Should I take protein?

If I'm trying to lose weight but want to help the growth of muscles. I'm really overweight and wondering if taking protein powder would be a good food subsistute since I'm on a fruit diet. And that I also workout and want to maintain muscles growth. If so what protein product do you recommend, i heard whey protein is pretty good?

Taking protein supplements is an excellent way to assist in the growth of new muscles. Gaining muscle mass allows you to increase your metabolism, which, in turn, will result in your body burning more fat. Whey protein is (debatably) the best source of protein. The key to losing weight is burning more calories than you consume. No other way really. Eat regular well balanced meals, breakfast lunch dinner and increase excersize.
