Xanax v. Ativan?

Which is better and are they for the same thing?

xanax (alprazolam) and ativan (lorazepam) are both in the family of drugs known as benzodiazepines.used for the treatment of anxiety/nervous disorders.ive had them both and personally i prefer xanax

Depends on what you need it for.ativan is more for agitation and restlessness and xanax is more for anxiety and 'nervous feeling'. They can sometimes be used for the same thing..as a nurse this is the way i see them used more often.
I don't take them so i wouldn't know which one is best. Sorry.
