What's the best treadmill for the money?

Question:

Answers:
I don't know what the "best" treadmill for the money is, however, I would recommend that you get as much information you can get (and hope it's accurate) regarding the effect it will have on your electric bill (if you have an electric bill--but SOMEBODY'S paying it!).

My experience happened to be that my electric bill MORE than DOUBLED, and that's the HONEST truth. When I received the bill about a month of having the treadmill, I FREAKED out! I should have been wearing an adult diaper when I saw the $$$!! The electric company sent someone out to test the meter,.everything was fine. The tech showed me what he was testing on the meter and what it all meant. A couple of days later, it dawned on me. THE TREADMILL! So I checked my meter to see how fast or slow the "wheel" went around. Then I turned on the treadmill and set it to the speed that I'd normally set it on. I went back outside to see how much of a difference it made. Well? The electric meter wheel was spinning like mad! That was enough for me. I called Sears and they came out and picked up my beautiful treadmill, took it away and I got a credit on my charge card.
I'm not saying that everyone who owns a treadmill (and uses it REGULARLY) has that problem, but I know I sure did.
Consider a manual eliptical. They really are easier on the knees, too.

Other Answers:
Forget threadmill, it will ruin your knees.
Get a nice eliptical machine. Go with the one you like most at the gym.

They repair treadmills, and don't sell them, so they are pretty objective. Also look at the sections about how much you should spend on a treadmill. There is a little quiz about how you intend to use the treadmill to figure out what you really need to spend for your goal.

Let me tellyou about buying a treadmill!
Treadmills are VERY prone to having problems such as slipping belts, and motor problems, control panel problems and all sorts of other problems and tthe problems usually start in the first month.
You should get an in home service warranty if you are getting one of any brand.
I would never get another one for my home. I love the local YMCA and also use the exercise bike with the back rest and LOVe that more than the treadmill and can also use the ellicptical machines, weight machines, go to the classes, and the two pools.
