I have fibromyalgia and I find that avoiding potatos, tomatoes, eggplants, capsicum (peppers), and tobacco helps. These are all from the Nightshade Family. I also find that cold showers are much better than hot.

I don't think there is a cure, but you can control flare ups.
Avoid stress whenever possible. This is a major trigger.
A hot shower seems to help the morning pain. For me, the pain is always worst in the morning when I get up.
I can't lay in bed too long. No more than 8 hours, whether I sleep well or not, I have to get up and get moving. I may have to take a nap later, but I don't hurt as much.
Stretching exercises, such as yoga. I do mine before I go to bed and I sleep so much better. (As I'm sure you know, the experts believe that poor sleep is a major factor in fibro.)
I have to avoid getting too hot. It brings out the fatigue and memory problems.
Midol and Pamprin help with the pain. Really.
Massage therapy helps, but talk to several and find one who understands fibro, or has other fibro patients. A word of warning: relaxation massage will do wonders, but therapeutic massage does more. Why the warning? Because therapeutic massage can HURT. But tomorrow you will feel better. I would talk with the therapist, and start out slow.
Myofascial Release, part of massage therapy, does not hurt AT ALL, and helps a lot, too. (pronounced my-o-fash-ul) You may think the therapist is just standing there touching you and not really doing anything, but then you'll feel something - like that part of your body may start to feel hot, or to twitch, or even another part of your body that they are not touching. It is a wonderful, pain free treatment.
If you don't have a good support system, join a support group. THey can understand things no one else will, and they will never doubt you.
