It just works.

rip your diaphram out and smoosh it on the floor.

Hold ur breath for atleast 20 seconds. Works like a charm!

"Neuroaccoustic Diafragmacontractions, commonly known as hiccups (or hiccoughs) occur when the diaphragm spasms and contracts, causing the person suffering to breathe in suddenly, but their breath is cut off because the gap between the vocal cords (the glottis) closes at the same time as the diaphragm contracts. This causes a characteristic 'hiccup' sound and the spasms can repeat continuously for several minutes."
There are various cures, sometimes contradictory, ranging from holding your breath to breathing deeply and slowly, to drinking upside down. See this website for a description of various cures. Hope that he-cup-lps!

Hold ur breath

Hold your breath and drink water. or have someone scared out just out of the blue.

Have someone pull your ears while you drink a glass of water. This always works for me.

Force yourself to swallow air. Take big gulps of nothing but air like 3 times in a row and they will stop.

There are several answers to this question. From studies, i have read that if you exhale into a brown paper bag for several seconds, you will cure the hic-ups. This however is a wives tale. The only that does, is lets your diaphram work harder. A hic-up is simply your diaphram twitching. So, the passing of time can cure hic-ups.

I have found that you can cure hic-ups by simply holding your breath for roughly 45 seconds.

booo
there youre cured

My friend told me to stand on a chair and hic up in front of everyone. it worked for me. i guess it was the fear of everyone looking at me. im a shy person so that may be different from the way you are.

it's the diagphram spasming. It's the muscle under ur lungs. Take as deep a breath as u can and hold it as long as possible. Then exhale as much as possible and hold it as long as u can. If it doesn't work the first time try it a couple of more times.

It always works for me. It's like when ur leg cramps u have to stretch it. Just stretch ur diagphram.

It's different for everybody. I just sip some water and it's over. My wife bends over and drinks water while upside down.

I think the cure is as mental as it is physical.

Interesting answers here. I know for a fact that sugar will stop hiccups. I've tried almost everything else, except pulling my ears:) I'm gonna try it the next time I get em. But for sure, try one tsp. of sugar. Although.pull your ears is less calories:)

The only thing that works for me is to hold your breath WHILE AT THE SAME TIME holding your diaphragm completely still. It doesn't work if I only hold my breath. You have to interrupt the spasms in your diaphragm. Oh, and hold it as long as you can.

hold your breath for a couple of minutes

i just hold my breath. hiccups are just your diaphragm moving out of sync with your lungs. if you hold your breath it helps the two get back into sync
