Is there any way to prevent a stitch (while running, for example)?

Question:

Answers:
I run about 15 miles a week, and I get stitches all the time. The best way I've found to put them off for a little bit is to put your hands behind your head and extend your torso. I think this works because it increases oxygen intake and absorption. I've tried breathing at pace (I've read you're supposed to breathe in with every step for two steps, then exhale for three steps, repeat), but that makes me light-headed. I let my body breathe as it needs to.

Other Answers:
run more often and it goes away

Cramps during exercise are caused by a lack of oxygen to that area. you need to learn to breathe evenly and deeply to allow good oxygen distribution.
