Please be careful when taking xanax or ambien or alprazalam (I don't know the names in the States)
I checked with several doctors about them and in their medical books, all of them were listed as having side effects like paranoia, addiction, etc.

I liked ambien. But its kinda expensive depending on your insurance because there is no generic for it. Maybe try lunesta or even an OTC sleep aid like tylenols simply sleep. Any sleep aid OTC will help you as long as it doesn't contain acetominaphen because it can cause liver damage with long-term usage.
The herb valerian is great in respect of not having side effects. While it does have a definate efficacy in getting me to sleep if I'm somewhat tired but need something to get me over the edge into sleepland, it doesn't knock me out like my side- effect producing prescription med, there usually isn't a "world best" of anything.
