I want to know how to relax and not worry so much?

Question:
I am always worring about things I cant change or fix and I want to relax but its just not that easy does anyone have any suggestions?

Answers:
Honestly, I use to be the same way. Now i dont always say this works but I started taking Zoloft and i love it. It has made me calm down so much and not stress as much. Im not saying this will work for u but it did for me. It made me jsut relize that i have to accept the things i can't change. Maybe u should talk to your dr. i hope this helps u. Good luck.

it/s called wellbutrin, a subscription from a dorcotr!!

Learn to meditate. Focus your attention on the things that matter, and let the small stuff roll off you. Recite the following prayer, if you're the praying kind:

God grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.

And some add: and the patience to wait for the wisdom!

my wife takes a hot bath when she is stressed out.try that

live your life

learn to say two words to help you relax: "F-ck it!"

yah im with you on that one i worry about almost everything. its crazy but i try deap breathing or talking to people

This may sound corny, but it is actually quite simple. Learn to let go of control. Put faith in a power greater than yourself. If you want to seek further help, there are 12 step programs and some adaptations of thus to teach you the basic skills of relaxation.

You could also try some Biofeedback (learning to use your body to change your mood). Meditation is great to, just take some quiet time, or not quiet (alot of Asian cultures meditate to drumming or buddhist's do chanting) place for yourself, and just relax starting from your feet and go up.

It may sound corny but in todays world, we dont take enough time to process our day, and anxiety and stess build up exponentially. I haope this helps, its something I feel passionate about.

see a shrink he'll give you narcotics

It's so easy to worry about various things. We all do. The thing that helps me the most is I have to tell myself there is no point in worrying about something I cannot control, it just wastes energy and I cannot focus on things that I can and need to control.

I do everything I can to reduce worries, especially positive things. I watch funny movies, hang out with friends and joke around, I ride my bicycle, go for walks, I do arts and crafts, visit museums, just anything that is uplifting.

You may also need to seek counseling, believe it or not excessive worry can be a sign of an anxiety disorder

for me a couple of wine coolers do the trick. like 4 of 5 do it sometimes 1 do it.

I would do as follows:

Remember: Worry is like a rocking chair. You can worry (rock) all day but you don't get anywhere

*Sign up for a stress management class (or even an anger management class) You never know what you could learn
*drink a hot cup of organic tea before bed (like sleepy time tea) or when you wake up (green tea)

visit www.drweil.com

*vent worries in a blob, journal, your dog, a best friend (don't keep them bottled up)
*go check out a bunch of 'self healing' books by dr phil or dr andrew weils from the library
*changing your diet to a healthy one (bad food can be toxic to your mental health)
*organize what you can change (like your desk, homework, home, etc)
*don't watch violent images/movies before going to bed (based on studies i read)

the point is: learn to think differently- in some small way.

You should try Yoga classes. I go to yoga classes 3 times a week and it really helps.

you are obviously anxious, find a hobby that suits your best attribute, that way you will be able to focus your emotions towards one thing and help build your self confidence in the process as well

I second y_e_n_o_t's answer. I don't know if this will work for you or not. I suggest you take some of other suggys and see. Talk to doc about medication that can help you with your panic. I take Xanax for my panic attacks, and Doc just recently told me to increase my Zoloft dosage for daily help. Boy, did THAT help tremendously. :-)

Plus, The Serenity Prayer works for me (without the word "god").."Grant me the Serenity to Accept Things I cannot change, the Courage to change the things I can, and the Wisdom to know the Difference". *shrug*
