Good luck! It's hard to kick the habit, even just cutting back. I'm personally waiting for the tax to get so high that I just can't afford them anymore.
cold turkey it;s the only way
you cant smoke if you dont have access to cigarettes. ask a friend to help keep you away from it.
Chew gum I am a smoker to only buy 1 pack at a time you always smoke more when you buy a carton and quit taking your cigs with you every time you go from one room to the other these little tricks will at least cut you back some and then you can try to quit my Dad quit he smoked 20 years or more and he went outside every time so the smoke would'nt be in the house try it good luck.
A hypnotist worked for me. Cost about $50 bucks.
He/she puts the group thru some verbal techniques. (No, contrary to urban legends, they don't make you cluck & strut like a chicken).
I didn't believe it but I left the seminar session; thru away my cigarettes and haven't smoked in 3 yrs. after smoking for ten and trying and crying to quit for 2.
Funny, I just remembered my mother (who had smoked for 30 years) quit @ 15 yrs. before me thru a hypnotist too. Hers was one on one. A week or so after her session she was complaining to me about "getting her money back" because he "didn't do anything. It was a scam."
I said, "but Mom, didn't you notice? You haven't been smoking." :)
Good luck my friend; it's the best thing you can do to love yourself and those who love you. Not to mention you'll be amazed at all the xtra money you'll have.
The Navy has smoking cessation programs. I went through the program. It has worked for me so far. They use meds, the patch and a group support setting to help you cut down, then quit. The classes also give you hard information on the science of addiction. That let me understand why I was so addicted. Quitting smoking rarely works on the first try. It takes practice and loads of motivation. If you are no longer in the Navy, check with your insurance provider to see if they cover the program. Ask your primary care provider for information.
