How bad a sugar alternatives?
I've been trying to research whether it's safer to eat products with sugar in them or products sweetened by chemically derived sugar alcohols or alternatives like aspartame and sucralose and all those other easy-to-pronounce chemical words. Some sites say they're good, others bad. Does anyone know the real story on this subject.
Does anyone else suffer from Multiple Sclerosis & Fibro Myalgia,?

You might want to AVOID artificial sweeteners! They are chemicals, and are NOT good for your body. Check out dorway.com - you will learn all about the dangers of these sweeteners. Want to know a little secret hardly anyone knows? Look for some Stevia at your local health food store. Stevia is an herb that is 300X sweeter than sugar, is natural, has no calories, and does not raise your glycemic index!! It actually nourishes your pancreas also. I have been using it several years, and I love it. You can also cook with it, and it does not lose it's properties. Look for the KAL brand pure stevia, and you will be amazed. It has no aftertaste. Good Luck!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aspartame that will tell you everything you need to know of aspartame .. I have heard its a Mill by-product . cant be good . anyway . sugar is the best for you . just like butter is better for you than the butter substitue .. which by the way is one step away from literally being plastic . but always remember . use, and consume everything in moderation. Can you get Herpes symptons from taking a Herpes pill for a fever blister?
Yes. Avoid Artificial Sweeteners. I have done much research on this topic and would take a pound of sugar and all the negative effects of it over Splenda, Sweet n Low, or Equal any day. Splenda is the product I am most familiar with out of the 3 only because it is the new craze. No need to research Sweet n’ Low or Equal as they already are forced to put a stamp on their packages stating that it has been show to case cancer in lab rats. Splenda is new, and very unique. You have to ask yourself “How can one make a product that tastes even sweeter than sugar but contains no calories”. The answer is this: Splenda is a laboratory concoction of 2 hydrogen molecules attached to a sugar molecule. Reason: Our body cannot breakdown this combination and the ultimate goal if for it to pass through the body without ever being absorbed in the way natural sugar would be.Problem: 12 – 15% of this “Chemical” does not exit the body in a timely fashion. Instead it piles up for an extra 2 days in our intestines and colon. There are obviously no studies to show what the result of this buildup is as the product is fairly new but I don’t want to be the one to find out first hand. I think we can all make assumptions about what might come as a result of this. Cancer is the most predominant effect that comes to mind. Many foods such as donuts have been linked to causing intestinal & colon cancer as a result of their long processing time.
I am sure you will get mixed response on this topic, but I can assure you many of those responses are just attempts to reassure oneself that the product they consume like water is okay to eat.
Let all those that said Sweet n Low & Cigarettes be a reminder the FDA is not always correct.
