how to get rid of gas or acidity?
Question:
Answers:
As long as you are not lactose intolerant, acidity can usually be eliminated by drinking an 8 oz. glass of milk along with or following a meal, or when symptoms present themselves. If symptoms occur later--some time after a meal or snack--an over-the-counter remedy such as Tums can be used. If that does not relieve the symptoms then I would suggest Pepcid* with a full glass of water (8 oz.), as long as it is not contraindicated with any prescription medications you are already taking (check with your pharmichist or physician) no more than twice a day. If symptoms still persist, try Prilosec* once a day for about two weeks. If You still have problems after that, see your physician because you probably have a serious problem.
Other Answers:
The first way is to watch what you eat. Roughage (such as lettuce and other green veggies), beans, spicy foods and dairy products contribute to gas. Spicy foods, citrus products, tomatoes (!) and other foods contribute to acidity.
The second way is medically. Gas can usually be controlled by over the counter products containing simethicone. GasX, mylanta, etc. Mylanta would help with gas and acidity. Acidity can be controlled with over the counter products such as tums (for short-term) and prilosec (for long-term; taking 1-2 daily), but for some this is not enough. There are plenty of prescription medications such as Nexium, Prevacid, Protonix, etc.
Hope this helped.

Immediate remedy ( when you actually have acidity) : A tablespoon of apple vinegar followed by cool ( not cold) water in an interval of 30 seconds.
Preventive ( apart from food habits):
1. Drink as much room temperature water as you can as soon as you wake up without even brushing your teeth.
2. Squeeze one fourth of a lemon in half a glass of tepid water.drink it in one go early in the morning.
3. Cut down on coffee..try Tea instead.
Just try to do these for a week and you will find the difference.
