Low carb diets?
Question:
Answers:
Low carb diets are contrary to balanced health.
They are a critical part of human nutrition and those who cut back on them are weakening their bodies. Long-term low carb diets contribute to heart disease, lower immune system function, can cause kidney/liver problems, and cause muscle to waste away.
The media hype surrounding low carb diets don't address the issues.
Carbs are healthy and are required for good health, but, eating TOO MUCH white pasta, white rice, white bread, candy bars, cakes, french fries . . . contributes to poor health.
You are right.
Eating a healthy level of carbs, whether they be high-glycemic index or low-glycemic index, are good for you.
Of course, it is better to not consume high-glycemic index carbs, but in controlled quantities, they are good for you.
People can't think for themselves, so, they blame carbs on their appearance or health problems.
Other Answers:
What is wrong with people is that they choose not to eat carbs. Its a personal decision. Deal with it.
love them, couldn't live without them. just walk and drink lots of water and you'll keep up with your carbs!
I love carbs but I'm trying to steer away from them just in junk food. Give me my fruit and cereal any day! And the occasional serving of toast or pancakes.
The low-carb thing is something which I've been wondering about ever since it started. You need carbs, in some form or another, every day- any true doctor will tell you that.
I think it was created by the beef industry, after the whole mad cow disease scandal! Because people were boycotting beef.
I love them too, but I know from experiences from working at bakeries, restuarants, and from excersizing, that if I consume more carbohydrates than what I burn off. I will eventually build up my fat storage. lol
Just my experience and everyone is different. But if I am serious about staying healthy, my body requires healthy foods, (good carbs like pasta & grains - not twinkies), good fruits & vegetables, healthy fats/oils, and definately more proteins to help repair my body. My blood sugar levels will also spike and have a big affect with an increase/decrease in my energy levels when I eat too many starches/sugars. But to each their own.
I would say go for it if it works for you. Only you know how you body responds and does its best.

As long as you eat the right amount of good carbs there is nothing wrong. I am proud to say that I eat more protien than carbs and I love it. For me I seem to have more energy and snack a lot less than I used to. But I still love my pasta, I just eat less noodles and put more meat into the sauce.
It all comes down to personal preference.
