How does oatmealand milk lower cholesterol?


Question:
It seems to me the statistics could have just asked people to eat it for breakfast in replacement how what they where eating before, like donuts and sugar cerials.

What in it lowers cholesterol and what other foods do it too?

Answers:
Oatmeal is rich in soluble fiber, which seems to lower cholesterol. Also, it is a whole grain healthy food, not junk food.

Other Answers:
1/4 t. of cinammon / day lowers cholesterol too.

Oat bran is what does it by absorbing cholesterol from your gi tract and passing it out of your body which prompts your liver to pull cholesterol from your bloodstream to replace it. Other whole grain foods like wheat bread and cereal do the same thing.
