Why do people smoke?

Question:

I really would like to know the answer to this question because almost everyone in my family smokes but they don't know that the kids know that,but ALL the kids in my family know that almost all the adults smoke,and I just would like to know the answer so please help me out.

Some Teens think it will make them look cool. Alot more people are quitting these days though whiich is a good thing!

stress..boredness..want to kill them sleves and get cancer

for placer, being more popular, for socializing or for having something to do..

calms the nerves down.

they start when they are kids to look cool, but then, when they want to quit, they find thay can't. i smoked for 20 years before i quit.

mostly because their friends tell them to smoke one and then the nicotine addiction makes them want to smoke again and again.

The main reason people smoke is stupidity. Most take up smoking thinking it will make them "look cool" but by the time they realize it isn't cool, that it is expensive and that it affects their health (more colds, respiratory illnesses), it is too late.they are addicted.

I smoke, it's relaxing and i enjoy it. I've thought about quitting, and then i thought " I going to die any way." And if it's not lung cancer it will be somthing else. Live fast, die young, and be beautiful corpse.

Like fooled-around in her answer earlier AND the author Kurt Vonnegut said, it is the socially acceptable method of committing suicide in our society, less so now due to more public awareness. Plus that addiction thing.2 of the most dangerous drugs-alcohol and nicotine-are legal here and I guess it has a lot to do with politics & money to make the deadly substances available. Availibility is part of the problem as well. By the way, I smoke and drink.

Because I do it so well and look wonderful holding court with a long cigarette holder.people pay attention more when you're a bit off beat.oh, and I just LOVE the grip of a menthol in my throat that says "I have arrived, and though your company may be boring, I will always be here for you!!.."
