What's the best non-prescriptio. pick me up 4 someone who HAS to travel( or loose my job)w/a very bad cold

Question:
i just got hired and have no leave yet and this is a make or break deal for the job.I'm healthy so all I need is something to get me through the next couple of days.

Answers:
Tylenol cold works great (plus the capsules are mint flavored, even though you swallow them whole). Anything with pseudoephedrin in it, really, and Tylenol or ibuprofen if you have a sore throat. Antihistamines like Benadryl work for a lot of people, too, but they've never helped for me.

Other Answers:
Sudafed . not the Sudafed PE which is the new watered down stuff . but the real Sudafed with pseudoephedrine, that you now have to get from the pharmacist.

relaxer for the common cold to give relief of some symptoms a shot of whiskey with some lemon juice and honey tastes nasty but will help

haha believe it or not, Hot Damn (cinnamon schnapps) help me with cold symptoms more than any medicine. although of course I wouldn't recommend taking it while you're working.

A company called Hebralife International makes an energy drink called lift-off. I know you probably won't be able to get your hands on any in time, but it is amazing. I was extremely down and sick feeling, popped one of the tablets in a bottle of water and about 15 minutes after i drank it i was perfectly fine. And it doesnt have caffiene so it did'nt cause a big drop in energy after a few hours like most do.

one tsp lemon juice 1 tsp honey pinch of turmeric powder and a pinch of red pepper pwdr mixed toghter and gulped down in one go is a sure shot for bad colds

A cold med with caffeine in it. Excedrin used to have caffeine, but I don't know if it does in its cold pills. I would check it out though.

Some of the other answerers mentioned things that make me sleepy. Tylenol (plain, even) makes me sleepy.

have you tried cocaine? it's non prescription. -beaver (Rock Island, Illinois)

Dayquil works good for me doesn't get rid of it but takes the symptoms down a lot for a few hours
