Can impacts on the body that cause bruises cause cancer?

Question:
I'm asking this because i would like to strengthen my cartilages like in Muai Thai. I'm concerned whether physical beatings eventually lead to cancer? Thanks.

Answers:
It is possible that sudden trauma to the body can lead to cancerous cells (ie severe burns, injuries from car accidents). Some people are genetically predisposed to this
condition.

However, the likelihood of that is very slim.

Other Answers:
Cancer is a mutation in the DNA so the cell no longer makes cell walls. You get the sort of giant cell that has lots of nuclei in it. Getting beat up does not cause mutation.

A friend of mine got kicked in the breast by a horse & some years later she was diagnosed with breast cancer, her doctor suggested it was the cause.
My mother was in a car accident & hit the steering wheel hard with her breast & since then she has had several breast lumps (non-malignant). The doctor told her the trauma from the car accident was the cause & now he sends her for frequent, regular mamograms & breast ultra-sounds.

Lots of daily traumas and insults cause cell changes that could lead to cancer. Our immune systems usually nip them in the bud. Only when they slip by the body's defenses do they become a problem. I wouldn't worry about it.
