Answers:
first of all u are not TOO overweight! it may be true that u have a couple of extra pounds but u are not too fat!!
but still it is always nice to loose a couple of pounds to feel good about urself and be motivated! so here are some tips. hope they help. good luck. :o)

WHAT to eat for losing weight

• Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, especially NC (negative calorie) food.

* Print these lists. They will be your . "Bible", from now on !
* Dill and parsely - include them in all your salads. Also ognion + garlic.
* Try eat mostly fresh vegs & fruits (whenever possible, of course)
* If you really want a book, then check this out: The Negative Calorie Diet Workbook & Cookbook - eBook (Win95/98 only). Read more about this e-book here.

• Eat fish, chicken, beef, pork. (preferences are in this order)

* If you are a vegetarian, then ignore this!
* Avoid fat meat

• Eat 2-3 slices of bread/day. Don't EVER exclude bread from your diet!

• Snacks between meals (if needed): apples, oranges, grepfruits and other NC fruits

* Don't cheat . NO cookies, chips, candies, brownies etc!
* EVEN if they have "low fat" indication. They might have low fat, yet they can have lots of CALORIES !

• About rice, potatoes, beans, [xxx]nuts, pastry, pasta. you know!

* Don't eat too much of those, at least during the first weeks of the diet. I'm not a low carb addict, but I've noticed weight gains if consuming those in large quantities, especially when associated with other foods.
* If you like them a lot, try and eat them like one meal. A nice delicious plate of spaghetti could be your lunch (never dinner!), followed by a nice big apple. These rich starch foods are not good for dinner!
* At dinner time, chose mainly large mixed veggies salads. with fish, lean meat or cheese (if you are not a vegetarian).

if u want to lose weight the best food to it are baked potatoes with nothing on it. no salt no nothing just plain. u can eat a 10000000000 baked potatoes till ur stuff and not gain a pound. i heard that from a weight loss tape. the best drink is water or gatorade. thats a start then when you work out do some taeboo. if u want a macine. run with dumbells on a treadmill. u could do the rocky workout. but thats a new story. u could use a butterfly macine i think it works the abs

1) It is not just the amount you eat, but what you eat. Lean meats and vegtables that snap are a good place to start. And by snap I mean fresh and not boiled or doused with better or whatever.

2) Exercise moderatly but for about an hour every other day. Spend half of that walking or running at a good enough pace for you to feel labored. The other half of the time use weights, or exercises such as push ups or situps to get a muscle "burn". A gym is also an option, but I don't know if you have the money for or want to spend the money on it.

3) Sleep well. To bed earlier and up earlier. Exercise in the morning when you wake up, not in the evening before bed. 7 hours of GOOD sleep is a must.

4) Occupy yourself with a hobby that keeps your attention for a long period of time. A hobby like this keeps your mind focused and gives less of a chance for snacking from boredom.

That is a good place to start. if you see good results, keep it up and modify to fit you. if it does not, see a doctor AND a trainer

Keep working out, drink water a lot, eat 5 to 6 meals a day but in small quantities, vegtables are important specially cucumber and lattice, fruits not be eaten after meals except by 2 to 3 hours, minimize the starch quantities in your meals lots of salad is important, your last meal must be before you sleep by 2 to 3 hours
the most important thing is you don't lose patient wait and have a strong will to be as what you want

you might have some more ideas from www.ivillage.com

good luck

I'm 5'5" and weigh 140 and that's ideal weight, so you can't be far off ideal, I really don't think that's overweight.

well hey your not over weight to me not anyway you are beautiful the way you are but if you need some advice on dieting here you dont have to starve your self you can eat salads and fruits and low fat food eat meat but not to much take care of your self.

OK.that is not WAY over weight.sorry.maybe by today's anorexic standards it is, but reality says not. Just watch your fat and sugar intake and cut out soda's and junk food. A diet of whole grains, lean meat and fresh fruits and veggies with not only help you shed those unwanted pounds, but also keep you healthier too.

I am about that height and weight and no one, including myself thinks i am WAY OVER weight.

Actually, you're only 11 pounds overweight!

Watch your serving sizes, lots of salad, lite dressing, lots of water, diet soda

Whoa, girl! Be patient! It takes weeks to lose weight safely. The first ten pounds will come off quickly, maybe in as little as three weeks with as often as you're exercizing, but after that, you'll only be able to lose about five pounds every two weeks.

Improving your diet isn't a bad idea at all. Try to lower your consumption of fast food and snacks. Don't eliminate anything you love to eat, just try smaller portions. Also, it's important to eat a small meal AT LEAST every four hours. Otherwise, your blood sugar level will drop off and your metabolism will shut down.

Make sure to eat plenty of meat (white meat chicken is best), fish, green veggies, and fruits. DON'T cut carbs; they are essential to your health. DO try to lower your fat intake (especially saturated) and overall calories. 1500 calories a day is perfect for losing weight, but don't drop below this or your body will think it's starving and you'll crave food more than ever.

Finally, consult your doctor before starting any diet or exercise program. At your height, you really aren't too overweight. I doubt you need to lose more than ten or fifteen pounds. Be careful, and keep exercising! It's great for your health.

Unless your overly obsessed about your weight, that is NOT overweight for your height it is pretty much "average".

Listen you are only about 20 lbs overwight just watch what you eat no junkfood only on Sat. you don't really need to diet. and stay active play basketball, walk, just do stuff active and you will be on your way and 3 lbs in one weedk is exellent

Im 5'9" and used to weigh 177 last December. I tried the gym before but I just when you get bored and stop you baloon up again.

I tried dieting. I live in Asia so my main staple is rice. I went on a diet without rice and my only source of carbo is Pasta or bread and not too much of it. If you dont eat rice then you need to cut on your carbo source.

I stopped drinking juices or colas or anything sweet.

Before meals I drink about 2-3 glasses of water and take time to chew my food. This gives you a feeling of being full (the water) and chewing gives your brain the time to realize your full from the food. If it does not at least your feeling of fullness is mostly water.

So not starve yourself. Eat when your hungry but again water first and no carbs.eat a lot of veggies instead.

Its hard at first but you should start seeing some results in 3 weeks. Push ups and situps at home help as well (this does not need to be much I was dong just a set or each per day and sometimes not even) Again the results come at around 3 weeks if you do it right.

I lost 10 lbs in the first month, 5 in the second. and another 12 in the third month. I am now 150 lbs and no gut.

My shirts came down from medium (tight fit then) to small (with some space). Pants went down from a tight 34 to an exact 31 with some room still.

Best of all you feel better and now I am planning to go to the gym to add the proper muscles.

Three pounds in a week is Very Good! Stick with the diet you are on . I think you are looking for a way to fail. Why do you not want to be thin?

Exercise helps more than anything. Maybe a personal coach would help.

I know of 2 or 3 good web sites, and South Beach is a fairly good balanced diet.

South Beach and/or Dr. Phill cook books and diet guidelines.

It is not how much you eat but what you eat. Exercise to raise your heart rate and rest after exercises.

Weight loss is as slow as weight gain. You may find that in the beginning you'll lose more pounds and slowly lose less each week. That is a good sign, it shows that you are losing the unwanted fat and gaining new muscle tissue.
