Please help?

Question:
I missed a dose of venlafaxine last night (antidepressant) which I take for depression and anxiety. Now I feel really weird, like my brain is disconnected. I feel spaced out and disoriented, slowed down. It seems to come in waves and has been happening for the past couple of hours. It feels almost like I'm going to have a panic atttack but there's no reason why I would.

Is this because of the missed dose? And what do I do about it? Do I take tonight's dose early or just put up with this until bedtime when I usually take it.

Please help, I don't like these feelings and I don't know what to do, I can't seem to think straight at the minute.

Answers:
My ex gf used to miss occasionally and she would experience the same things you are apparently experiencing. She would just try to sleep it off until her next dose was due and this seemed to put her back on track. I got her to put her meds next to an important item of hers that she used daily, in this case her cigarettes. She didn't miss again.

Please, call your doctor.

Missing a dose is bad. I advice you to try not to miss agian but if you do take your medicine as soon as you remember. Also have someone remind you if you have someone living with you. I know it sounds funny but then at least you will get you meds on time.

Honey, I don't think many people here are in a position to diagnose you. It sounds like there might have been an adverse effect because of the missed dose but we can't be sure. It would really be best to consult your doctor. Hope you feel better.

Go to doctor now! I will pray for you! bye

To me it sounds like , missing your pill is part of it. The other part is you have the wrong kind of anti-depressant? My Ex went through the same thing until she went back for another kind etc. My advice set an appt. Be safe

I sincerely hope everything worked out for you on this issue. I'm a little late in answering as I'm sure you have this resolved by now.
I edited my answer to one of your other questions in regard to your panic attacks. The person that said Effexor is not the right antidepressant could have a point. I advise for you to make another appointment with your psychiatrist as soon as possible. From what I'm noticing through your questions, the effexor isn't helping your symptoms much after a year of taking them. One missed dose shouldn't cause you to have a panic attack though. The half life of this med should've had you covered. I think you may have been ading to your fear by worrying about the missed dose, which in turn caused you to feel this way. Another good reason to go back in to your psychiatrist and get more info.

Also, always save at least one copy of the sheet you get from the pharmacy. The one that lists the side effects, also tells you what to do if you miss a dose.

As for remembering to take your meds, keep them in a place that you will always see them before you go to bed. Perhaps a nightstand or on top of your alarm clock.

Allow your body some changes that seem a little weird. Meditate for a solution and then carefully try it. All meds will dissolve in us and take time to be removed. Variations of dose shouldn't be very noticeable but some feelings can be expected. Affecting our minds also is our air quality and digestion our energy and exercising and thoughts of excitement or depression. If you are in the outdoors the oxygen level can be much higher than in some buildings especially if the heating system leaks CO into the air handler. Expect important dangers in our health to have multiple warning signs. Most people live to the average life span.
