I don't personally know anyone who has had it but I am against it in most situations. Do you really feel like the rewards are greater then the huge risks. Millions of people have lost tons of weight without it so it's rarely ever necessary to have done. Plus, it's a quick fix for a huge problem, people think that after getting the surgery they won't be able to over-eat and that will solve their food issuse but that's not true, I think losing weight the natural way is much better all around in the long run.

I have not had the surgery, but do know two others who had it. I would not recommend it unless you weigh over 400 lbs. You can eat properly and solve this problem, just go see a nutritionalist.
First off, it depends on how dedicated you are going to be to it. have you ever researched it? my aunt and my uncle had it done, and the results are AMAZING! If you can stick to it, I'd recommend it!
I weigh over 400 lbs, and researched it. I was terrified by the failure an infection rates, and by the percentage of people who go pretty much back to full weight in three years.
The killer was when I saw the post surgery diet- small portions, no pops, limited sugars and fats, etc. I figured if I could follow that diet, I would not need the surgery!
I'm working on it the old-fashioned way. but I also admit I keep looking at bulk liposuction. I figure the sheer inertia and lack of energy I have are two big reasons I don't walk or exercise more, and I have read good thigs about bulk lipo helping with that. Lots of controversy on it, however.
