My daughter wanted a tattoo. She came to us and was upfront and open about it. We also realized she could do it behind our backs, so we supported her and went with her to get it done. It was a cool experience. Tongue piercing itself can be a bit more dangerous. My nephew had his done and his tongue swelled up filling his entire mouth and was very painful, then there is the possibility of nerve damage. Your parents just may be concerned for good reason. I think you should be very calm, try to present your case in a dignified manner.

I had mine pierced when I was 17 because me and my boyfriend are good friends with a piercer at a tattoo shop and he did it for me as a favor. I hid it from my mom for 2 months. She was just upset I did it, but she just busts my balls about it now.
how about your nose pierced? your tong could get infected, and (no ofence) getting your tounge pierced is kind of gross
If I were you, get what your parents would let you and leave it at that. Once you get tounge pierced you will regret it .

Are you sure that a tounge piercing wouldn't inhibit your music? If you're sure, tell them you really like this guy who wants to marry you and you're thinking of accepting but if you do then you couldn't get your tounge piercing becus he hates that. If I was you, I wouldn't get a tounge piercing, they hurt, you can't eat and they are easily infected. Get your nose pierced or your eyebrow or something.

Ugh!. there is nothing so disgusting as pierced tongues.
Think of all the food & debris that could cause infections etc. Apart from anything else if it is not done in a really sterile environment (very few of these places are) there is a risk is damaging the tongue by piercing the hole too far back. I think, just this once, you should listen to your parents. Think about this too. If your mum had a pierced tongue at her age you would flip. Imagine your child at the age you are now seeing your pierced tongue & being embarassed like that in front of her friends.

well sorry if thats not the advice you want to hear, but thats my opinion (i also thing they look repulsive)
however if you want it done, choose your piercing studio well. remove it when you sleep and try to avoid scraping the stud back and forth along the inscisor teeth (like a prisoner scrapes a cup along the bars)

I ask because my daughter did her tongue, her lip, her naval, got a HUGE tattoo on her back, . then she fell in love with a wonderful guy, they got married had 3 kids and regretted everything EXCEPT her pierced ears. She is 23. It is so easy to do initially--and so hard to recover from later--I hated to see her go thru this-- because I could not "fix" any of it for her--everything was her choice, they just turned out not to be long-term good choices. I'm also 16 and I believe self expression is really important but I think that maybe you've gone a bit too far. Your parents have already let you pierce your navel and that's a big step for any parent(s). Wait a while, who knows you might just regret this decision too. You can either hate the advice I'm giving you but really please consider it!
