Are chiropractors legitemate doctors?
Question:
Answers:
They are called doctors - but not medical doctors.
chiropractics involves spinal chord/nerves.so this is definitely an important medical function. Healing techniques include - massage and other light/oil treatments.
Chiropractics was first brought to USA - DD Palmer (1985)
so since your question is legitimate doctors - which I take as whether its fake or not - yes they are legitimate doctors regulated.
Practitioners of chiropractic are called chiropractors. In the United States of America they receive the degree Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) and are referred to as doctor. However, they are not physicians or medical doctors. Chiropractors are licensed in all jurisdictions of the United States, in addition to many other countries throughout the world.

They aren't Medical Doctors but some do have Doctrates or Phd's in their fields respectively and also they are NOT regulated by the American Medical Association as many people might have you believe.

My brother, he's a chiropracter.
Yes and no, they are called doctors but their training does not compare to an MD. Some chiropractors can be honest and actually help you in some ways, others rely on 'voo doo' & gimmicks to impress you. An MD won't have you come back to his office once a week for treatments the rest of your life.
No!! I call chiro-practers, quack-practers. There is nothing legitimate about what they do, other than the common sense benefits of simple techniques, such as massage or cold or heat or vitamins. Their "doctorate" degree and their supposed "science" of chiropractic, is nothing but a scam. There is no objective scientific proof of it's rational basis or of it's usefulness. Just because they finally lobbied and got state health board certification, does not in any way make them legitimate. Usually, they do not do any harm, but they have been known to cause strokes through manipulation of the neck. If you want a backrub, go to a simple massage therapist, or get your spouse to give you a back rub. Don't go to these quacks and give them money.
Yes, I'm politically incorrect. But I give you only the truth. The truth is not open to vote. Just because many will claim that they have been helped by chiropracters does not in any way prove their usefulness or their legitimacy. The placebo effect helps many. It works for sugar pills, and it works for Quacks.

I'm a real doctor, a M.D.
I agree with Doc Armalite! They are NOT medical doctors. Chiropractors can not prescribe medicines, they can not admit you into the hospital if they "adjust" a patient wrong, they can't even practice in a hospital if needed. Not to mention, most new graduate students from chiropractic schools don't go through a residency before they start practicing. MD's and DO's do! Would you go to someone who calls themself a docotor when you need medical attention but has a PhD.? I prefer to go to a MD or DO, one's who are "real" medical doctors.
