How does a procrastinator motivate themselves to get stuff done?

Question:
I have always been one, and I put tasks off until the last minute.except at work. What do you think?

Answers:
One thing that procrastinators typically HATE to do is to keep a schedule, or an agenda of what they need to do each day. Oddly enough, this method is the most sure-fire way to force yourself not to procrastinate. As a procrastinator to this day, I find that when i am really behind and need to get a lot of stuff done. I can achieve it if I make myself a checklist. Just suck it up, sit down and write a list of EVERYTHING you need to get done, down to the last detail. If you need to go get gas right it down. Giving yourself this layout and strategy will help you keep your thoughts on task. as procrastinators are usually people who have a lot of things running though their head and often forget what they need to get done. Try It! I promise it will help!

Usually because of a looming deadline!

Whenever you find yourself saying, "I'll do it tomorrow." Just remember that today is yesterday's tomorrow - so do it today.

Only you can change you, tell yourself you have to and stick to it

Oooh. Hmmm.

I'm a procrastinator too, and it's a wonder I even get to writing out answers!

Make a list, it seems to help me. Then you only have to worry about getting around to making that darn list!

PUSH THROUGH IT.

Thats what I tell myself anyway. Dont expect to enjoy moving forward with responsibilities, growing up sucks, I would play all day if I had the money. But the rewards of moving forward are greater that the comforts of standing still..most of the time.

A reward system works sometimes. "Once I finish this task, I will give myself this reward."

Ask me tomorrow..

Try setting some rewards for yourself for getting things done. Maybe make a to do list for the day, boring I know, and treat yourself to something if you get it done. This is what my wife does and it works really well for her. Plus I get to be the treat sometimes.

well for starters, your not the only one in the world many people do so at some point or the other. honestly i think even i put away things to be done sometimes too. i guess mostly for me its because i either am not interested in the thing to be done or i am just too lazy. there are times when you dont feel upto it to do a few things as they come to you, which i think is very normal. only its a problem when people make it a habit and dont get things done in time. well here i would like to add that if anyone has to improve in this matter they first have to build interest for the thing to be done and then also think what consequences it might have one you or anyone else who its supposed to be done for. would it make them happy is what you should ask yourself. and motivation is on your mind, you jut have to make your mind and nothing can stop you.all the best and good luck.

i am a human too!

Some day you will realize that life is a lot simpler if you're not always worrying about what you are putting off.

When I procrastinate, it usually is because somewhere inside, I dread doing what it is that I am procrastinating about. This usually stems from overthinking about it. What I find is best to do when this happens is to block any feelings or thoughts associated with the activity out of my mind and just go for it! Of course, if there is a deadline involved, that alone motivates me to get it done via force.

It is also easy to confuse emotional hesitation with procrastination. Perhaps depending upon the situation you can ask yourself if it is really procrastination, or if emotionally, something about the situation isn't right, or is preventing you to act.

Hope that helps.

I need to think about your question, so I will give you an answer tomorrow if I feel like it. There's no rush, so I do it later.

You do your tasks at work because because a reward is awaiting for you. Your paycheck. Sometimes you want
to be motivated in order to perform a simple task at home. It seems if nothing is in for you, the matter can wait as far as you are concerned,

If you don't have the problem at work, it's probably because you know there will be negative consequences. Maybe you should try reminding yourself of the consequences if you don't do certain things outside of work.

Hi this isnt my sn but I am a big procrastinator ..! of course my motivation is that my mom would be home any minute and i dont feel like hearing her mouth. cause then i would probably say something bad and get into alot of trouble. moms yell alot.. well at least mine does..KP

discipline is the key.just think that it's the last day and there's no tomorrow.
