Do hypnotist's work?

Question:
I have perceptions that I want a hypnotist to help me forget

Answers:
I've seen people who I knew personally do things I know I cou;dn't get them to do drunk while on hynosis. It may work, and it may not. Any hypnotist will tell you, if you're a believer.if you want it to work.your chances are much better then a die hard skeptic.

Other Answers:
I believe they do.

Yes, how else are they going to get paid!

Yes, but not all people are susceptible to hypnosis.

I used a hypnotist to break a 15 year smoking habit - and it worked - haven't smoked for 6 years.

Hypnotists do work but they are not magic. Getting a hypnotist to help you suppress memories will be a temporary solution at best.

I think that they do. I have seen some and my friend did and she did things she would never do normally. After she didn't remember anything!

YH! What they said.

i do not think so,it was tried on me>i felt like the doctor was trying to give me suggestions of what happened instead of letting me recall what happened.

Hypnotism will not help you forget certain memories or perceptions. A hypnotic state is really just a deep state of relaxation. Hypnosis is not an end in itself but a means to resolving personal issues. Repressings your perceptions, feelings, etc. without working through them may only be worse for you. It is admittedly difficult to confront certain painful or troublesome perceptions but working through these challenges and learning to cope with them is often the best way to go.
