How many times should you do situps/crunches.

Question:
How many reps should you do when doing sit ups/crunches? (Best recommended amount) and how many actually crunches/situps in each rep? I heard you're supposed to do 3 sets of 15 crunches/situps only.

Answers:
The glory about abs is that you can beat the heck out of them all week long. The workouts really depend upon what you can do. If you are a beginner try doing three or four sets but do not go to fail on the first two sets or it will effect your last two in which you want to go to fail.

Try this if you are advanced and only give yourself 30 to 45 seconds rest between sets. Do all the below at the end of your workout as often as you like.

3 Sets of 25 situps on that funny V shaped situp thing (Forget the name of it).

3 sets of 15. Hanging leg lifts.

3 sets of 25 kneeling cable crunches. Set the poundage to somewhere around body weight.

1 set of 50. Twists with a bar behind your neck while seated.

Other Answers:
I've heard 3 reps of 12 is most effective. It's best if you do at least 20-30 minutes of cardio first though so your body is at it's max fat burning point.

depends on your strength! if your weak and skinny could just do 5 but if your medium built try doin 15 - 20, then build up from there!
