****** How To Switch Off/On Our Thoughts?? ******?

Question:
Our MIND is the dustbin of our life, everyday it conceives things, and everytime it is thinking of something, randomly, when we think we are not thinking anything, .:-) we are still thinking! If we know the key to control it, we will be the better-WE. Afterall our mind is the key of our success and the key-attribute towards our own life!

I wish for you all to live a happy life:-)

Answers:
If you work at emptying your mind, going to a favorite place (a place beside the ocean or a place next to a running stream) and focus your thoughts on the breath going in and out of your nostrils, you can begin to empty your mind, and let go of all the rush of random thoughts. But it takes practice to developing this switch. When you are meditating, if you use a mantra - or phrase - when you are emptying your thoughts you can begin to associate that phrase with the peace of a quiet mind. That phrase can then become your switch.

But it's something you develop and create. It's not there automatically in your mind.

dude
what's your POINT?

Thank you for your thoughts.very inspiring.

You could try to visualise a radio in your head. You try and see all the little details, and then you practice turning down the radio and adjusting the volume and connecting the loudness of your thoughts with it. It takes alot of practice but it can work. Eventually you should be able to turn it off. Or listen to each thought one at a time and then visualise sweeping them off into a box and shutting the lid, noticing the absence of the thought once its in the box.

if you really want to clear your mind for a time, however brief, imagining more stuff isn't going to help you. i suggest checking out some literature on buddhist meditations--any sect will have helpful tips for you. :)
(i'm not buddhist.. i just like some of the stuff they teach!)
