adhd is one of those things that doctors are wrong about all the time. they misdiagnose and over medicate which causes even more problems. let the kid grow up and judge for yourself and defiantly get a second, third and forth opinion.
If you just had the baby, I dont see how Any Dr. can tell if a baby has adhd! That Dr. is nuts. Unless you are speaking of a differant adhd( Attention Defisit Hyperactiveaty Disorder)Thats something that comes into being a problem when they are in school. Dont let some pill happy Dr. put your baby on anything unless grades in school are in trouble. I have it,and when I was young they didnt have names for everything.I was just referd to as hyper! Good Luck! Maw
there isnt a cure but it can be managed with medication also i'd try fish oils they have been proven to work
The syndrome Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) defies a concrete definition. There are no blood tests, brain scans, or psychological tests that definitively diagnose it.
Not all Attention Deficit Disorders display the same exact symptoms. There are many combinations of cognitive and behavioral problems that may exist. Symptoms of this syndrome may include: Poor impulse control and internal self-monitoring, attention inconsistencies, chronic procrastination, the need for instant gratification, poor organizational skills, hyperactivity and hypoactivity, poor peer relationships, poor concept of time, and the need for highly stimulating activities.
Even though the syndrome Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) defies a concrete definition, children should not be left to flounder with their difficulties when there are treatments available that will help. Failure to treat ADHD carries significant risks whose lifelong consequences are well known: Failure to get an education, poor self?esteem, substance abuse, and antisocial behaviors that become habitual and can contribute to failure at life.
ADD/ADHD is not an imaginary disorder. It is a chronic developmental disorder which is genetically based. It is not a learning disability, but can co?exist with learning disabilities in approximately 25 to 33 percent of those diagnosed with ADD/ADHD.
There are studies that have found that stimulants are the single most effective way to treat this disorder. Followers of the news know that more and more people are being treated with Ritalin and other stimulants, and the treatment rates are different from one community to the next.
People are understandably squeamish about ADD/ADHD and medicating children who are otherwise healthy. When the public deals with issues concerning children, they don’t want to believe that ADD/ADHD is a real problem that requires medication because it is often treated with Ritalin which is a controlled substance. Unfortunately, there is no type of medication that will cure ADD/ADHD. The use of medication to treat it, however, is very controversial.
Medication may be the answer to problems associated with the syndrome ADD/ADHD. The only way to determine if Ritalin is the answer for specific learning and behavior problems exhibited by an individual is to determine whether or not the person has ADD/ADHD. In addition, more detailed criteria which would obtain a more definite diagnosis may also have a positive affect on the public. They may more willingly accept the diagnosis of ADD/ADHD and the child can more readily be treated for the disorder. Once a thorough evaluation has been completed and the diagnosis of ADD/ADHD has been made, a trial use of medication, monitored by doctors, teachers, parents and family members, will help determine if medication is the answer in that specific case.

I have ADD and have just graduated with a degree in special education.
Having ADHD isn't a bad thing. Sometimes people just have different wiring than others. There are medicines out there that can help her like strattera. Try to give her a healthy diet and a lot of exercise. The exercise in itself will help a lot. Maybe you are meaning something else? How old is this little girl? You probably can't tell anything before the age of 5.
This is attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Use lots of patience and some use trials of medications. Choose your doctors wisely most do not know how to deal with this. Also the school systems tend to ignore your rights to get a good education for these children. There are lots of sites on the Internet to get help from and obtain materials to read.
Relax, mom. ADHD has become very common. The doctor will prescribe medication for the problem. Without it, your child could encounter many problems throughout school. The doctor will more than likely monitor her progress on a regular basis, and change/ adjust medication(s) as needed. No need to worry..there are MANY GREATS, out there with the same diagnosis.

Two kids on ADHD medications.
ADHD is not curable, but limiting sugar and caffeine will help with the hyperactivity. There are over-the-counter remedies. However, ADHD children, if guided right, grow up to be more intelligent adults. I am an adult ADHD, now ADD, and I have twin sons ADHD and they are highly intelligent boys. Keep her occupied with constructive and educational activities and you will probably be the proud mother of a successful daughter.
