What causes pink eye?

Question:
Where does pink eye come from?

Answers:
It is an infection of the tissue around the eye. It is extremely contagious. Passed from person to person. If someone has it their eyes are constantly watering. They wipe their eye, pick up the phone, and its for you hand you the phone. Innocent enough, if some of the germs are brushed onto their hair and then its up against the phone they hand it to you, you place the contaminated phone to your cheek then wipe your eye, get the kleenex cause you most likely will come down with it too. Best prevention against it and so many other things is..wash your hands, once you have it, gotta see a doctor.

Viral conjunctivitis usually contagious

There are two types of pink eye: bacterial and viral. The bacterial is more dangerous. They are both highly infectious and need to be diagnosed and treated by a physician.

Its scientific name is "conjunctivitis," which means "inflammation of the conjunctiva." The conjunctiva is the membrane covering the eye and lining the eyelid. Sometimes this term is also used to describe non-infectious inflammation caused by allergies or sensitivity to wearing contact lenses.
