Please! I need some info and advice on dysplasia from a Doc or someone who's experienced the same symptoms

Question:
So, I found out I had mild dysplasia after my annual pap in late 2004. Every pap after that has also turned out to be abnormal. They also did a coloscopy (did I spell that right?) with the vinegar solution and took 5 biopsies and confirmed the dysplasia. They keep telling me "just re-test in 6 months". Now my question-Is this Normal?? Should I really have to keep going back every 6 months and can this dysplasia get worse? I feel like my doctor doesn't take the time to look over all of my info. And..It's been 4 month's since I had a period. This has also been an ongoing problem over the last 2 years. I rarely get periods. I have also gained a large amount of weight and I no longer have a sex drive. Please help! I'm only 23 and have no experience with all of this. I'm hoping someone else out there has some suggestions or experience with this. It's a little scarey. Thanks

Answers:
redgloss is mistaken - you had a COLPOSCOPY not a colonoscopy - the colposcopy is a biospy of the cervical tissue -

i'd find a new doc who is more attentive - if you are having weight changes and changes in libido you could be having any number of medical problems (hypothyroidism and depression come to mind) so you need to have those checked out as well

Other Answers:
Check out another GYN, ask friends for a referral -- Just for a second opinion, or possibly another course of action. Good Luck.

Usually when you are diagnosed with displasia, you do not have a colonoscopy, unless that had to with something different..
When you are diagnose with displasia, they do the biopsy, as you said that you had, but then the usually next step is cryofreezing, They freeze the entire lining of the cervix, and this usually eradicates the problem, If your doctor has not done this, you should see a different gyn.

My sis had that, the doc removed hers right away (it was also her first abnormal pap test she ever had and the only one) those cells can turn into cervical cancer. My suggestion would be find another Dr. I know they usually side together but you do have the right to a 2nd opinion.
