how do I motivate myself to loose weight and excerise?
Question:

I had a reality check when I took some pictures of myself with my new digital camera. Take some picutures of yourself. If you've been living in denial, the photos will be a bracing reality check.
Also, go slow, it might feel totally overwhelming to think about losing 100 pounds, but think about getting through the week eating healthily and walking around the block. Set small acheivable goals and work your way up to bigger goals. I find the more I exercise now, the more I want to eat better. You make that switch in your head when food stops being a balm to soothe your emotional needs and becomes fuel to your body, and you want high octane fuel, not crap.
good luck, you can do it!

look at yourself naked in a full length mirror.
Consult physician.
You can't make a resolution and stick to it because the motivation WILL flaunder. You have to take it each day as it comes, every day reminding yourself why you'd like to lose weight. put it this way, in a year's time you'll be in exactely the same situation as you are now if you don't do something about it. might as well do it, and see gradual improvements. You don't need to dread exercise, even some dancing in front of the mirror helps (I lost a stone doing that). Every small step amounts to big changes.
Wanting to lose weight is not something that happens over night. You cannot do it for anyone but yourself. Until you hit the point in your life when you realize this is something that has to be done, whether for health reasons or simply for vanity - it is your desicion. Everyone who has ever been on a diet, battles motivation every day. It is not simply a "diet" its a change in your lifestyle.
Buddy system - get someone else who is willing to exercise with you - on days you're not feeling it thry can keep you focused and it makes the time go faster. Otherwise start gradual with simple changes - park far away from stores, take the stairs
Nobody but you can make yourself loose the weight. If you have kids try it for them. They will want you around in the future and if you continue to gain weight i can guarantee you that you won't be. sorry to be harsh but my aunt is over twenty stone and refuses to help herself. When you try to tell he she needs to cut out the pounds of chocolate she eats, she gat angry and makes up excuses for her eating. There are no excuses! You are not yet at the point of morbid obesity but for the sake of the people who love you please find it within yourself to loose the excess weight. I can promise you that when you do, you won't look back!
look at urslf in he mirror evryday you wake up. and say this "im gonna loose 100pounds" amny times. sometimes you have to look at other people.
I understand your feelings. Losing weight is hard..keeping it off is even harder and its very easy to get discouraged when you have that much to lose. I would suggest getting the help of a supportive friend to encourage you. I too was once 100 pounds overweight. I fought with it for a very long time until finally I made the decision to have gastric bypass surgery. I was able to lose the weight and keep it off. Don't get me wrong, it was a challenge, but it worked and it was so worth it. I don't know if you have considered that and its not for everyone, but if you would like more info about it e-mail me and I would be happy to help you find the answers you are looking for. Whatever you decide to do good luck to you ..you have made a great decision for your health and I wish you the best
The best way to increase your level of activity is to work it into your daily routine. For example, if you go out to run an errand and you usually drive, park the car a couple of blocks away and walk the rest of the way there. If you run the same errand three times a week, you will have walked twelve blocks by the end of the week! If you take the bus, walk to the next bus stop and wait for the bus there. Get off one stop early on your way back and walk the rest.
Whenever you can, take the stairs instead of an elevator or escalator. If you work in an office building and always take the elevator, walk up one floor and catch it there. Walk down two floors before catching the elevator back down.
Always check with your medical doctor before starting any kind of regular exercise routine. Once you have reached a point of forty or fifty pounds overweight, you might consider an aerobics program at a gym. Aerobics is great for your heart and boosts your metabolic rate. Your metabolic rate is how quickly your body burns calories. When your heart is exercised with aerobics for at least sixteen consecutive minutes, it has a beneficial effect on your health.
Another way to increase your activity level is relaxed cycling, walking or mild jogging on the weekend. You might enjoy doing this with grandchildren. Kids love going outside with their in-line roller skates and skateboards! They could skate along with you while you ride your bike.
Set a goal each month. When you reach it or are satisfied you came really close, give yourself a reward of some kind that you really enjoy. Yes, it can be a treat of some kind; once a month won't hurt.
Remember, don't overdo things at first, and check with your doctor.
All great answers so far but the simplest and hardest answer is you have to want it. Thats it. Thats all there is too it. If you want it bad enough you will make it a priority in your life and all the excuses you have used in the past will no longer stand in your way. Everyone has the time to workout, they just dont want to.
