Hypnosis, anyone have it work for you?

Question:
I'm going to a hypnosis thing to quit smoking in a few days. Has anyone actually tried this and did it work for you?

Answers:
Not me. I just used good ole fashioned willpower to quit.best thing I ever did.
I'm not sure I believe in this hypnosis solution, but hey, if it works for you, all the better!!

Good luck!

Other Answers:
Yeah my father used to do that to some people who had problems about smoking, eating too much and etc. I've seen him helping 2 obese sisters by making them feel disgusted when they see a cake or candy or etc. by hypnotizing and talking to them.I think it works about the smoking thing too.

I'm going again in 2 weeks, didn't work for me the first time, but I know someone who had it done and it worked for them.

My mom and her friend went for this about three years ago. It worked on her friend (who hasn't smoked since), but not for my mom. She stopped for about a week and then lite up again. So it really depends on the person. If you believe it will work, then it might.

When you are truely and honestly ready to quit smoking anything you do will help. Won't matter if it is hypnotism, the patch, gum, or old fashioned willpower.

You need to get right with yourself first.

Untill then, you are wasting your money.

Sincerest applause for everyone who makes this choice! Well wishes to you.

I'm an ER nurse, a skeptic, have read a ton of research on hypnosis, and even attended a seminar on medical hypnosis.

I am fascinated with the idea of hypnosis, but I'm afraid there is not much evidence to support it. A lot of facts and figures that are thrown out to support hypnosis (like 99% success rates) are they not in any way reliable and in every case I have so far seen, those numbers are fictitious.

Save your money and write down a plan to quit.

Write down the day you are quitting. Commit to it. Throw out all your matches, lighters, cigarettes, etc. Try and quit when you have a weekend or a few days off in a row to start the withdrawal. Drink tons of water & juices. Increase your fiber intake, eat lots of fruits & veggies. Exercise! Start power-walking. Try to stretch your lungs out a little bit. Finally, take frequent naps and go to bed early.

When I finally quit, I went to a healthclub sauna. I sat in the sauna, drinking a 2 liter bottle of water. When I started to sweat heavily, I exited the sauna and showered off/cooled down. I then returned to the sauna and repeated the process until I had finished drinking the water. I think it eliminated a lot of the nicotine in my system. The next day was awful, but I think I shorted my withdrawal symptoms by several days.

A hypnotist told me he was successful with one out of five smokers. I stopped 25 years ago using a one day at a time approach. After 6 months I knew I had quit permanently. It was my third attempt at quitting. If hypnosis works for you, great. If it doesn't work, know that there is a method that will work for you. Seek and you will find it.
