Are People with OCD more intelligent ?

Question:

Answers:
I think being more intelligent makes you more prone to mental illness of a wide range due to the lack of stimulation in the modern world for anyone above the normal level of human thinking. Being smarter means that you find it harder to enjoy the simple things and then you start questioning yourself, when that happens you start questioning the world and your part in it, OCD is questioning the action and reapeating just to be certain, eventually it becomes like an addiction. I dont think all OCD actions are based on nonsense as people may tell you.

Other Answers:
Not necessarily.

No they are not. Now you must re-type that message ten times. Now turn off your computer five times and count to twenty between each reboot. What if you've done it 6 times? You'll have to start all over again wont you. Have you locked the door to your house? You sure your didn't leave the oven on? What about the oven? I'm sure you left that tap running. Best go home and check.

No.
They span a wide range.

Not necessarily, although some with such brain dysfunctions are highly intelligent, it does not mean that everyone with a brain dysfunction is highly intelligent.

Well, I have ocd, but I don't fell more intelligent than my peers, at least ocd doesn't help me with my studies.

As with any mental illness, OCD does not descriminate between intelligent or stupid, black or white, etc etc.

It is possible that it seems like people with OCD are smarter because they'd want to check and recheck and recheck homework assignments or go over a business presentation a bunch of times. It doesn't mean they're smarter.they just have practiced or made sure that things are right, whereas most people would just turn something in or practice it once or twice.

people with OCD are not necessarily more or less intelligent than others, however, many professionals believe that intelligent people are more likely to have OCD than people who are less intelligent.

I have read that people with OCD are highly intelligent - they just direct it in the wrong way. I agree they are.
