what is considered dangerous low blood pressure?
Question:
Answers:
While a systolic blood pressure (top number) of 100 is considered a minimum, there are plenty of people who walk around with 90, 80, sometimes even 70 and are doing well. If your blood pressure is below 100 and you are light-headed, or near passing out, then it is a concern. Otherwise if the pressure is low but the person has no symptoms, there is no need to do anything or to be concerned.
Other Answers:
I'm not sure exactly do you take your own readings. I imagine anything below the normal rate is dangerous.

I don't know the dangerous low blood pressure. It's all about the symptoms that you are having when you have this low blood pressure. If you feel dizzy and faint, then you would be likely to have low blood pressure. Low blood pressure usually means bleeding or loss of fluid from the body. Blood pressure norms also depends on age and general health condition

I used to work in a Nursing home for the elderly and was always told that generally speaking your blood pressure should be about 100 plus your age over about 70 or 80. However if you are worried about your blood pressure then you should really see your doctor (even if its to put your mind at rest)

60 over 50
Some people have natural low pressure that is quite acceptable. If someone who has normal to high pressure suddenly has low pressure u should take it more seriously.
When I go through a period of significant weight loss, my medication has more effect and I need to get to the doctor to see what adjustment I need to make.
I think "normal" is considered 120 over 80. I am an overweight female age 42 and my last reading was 114/72. So it depends on the person and their general health. Unlike high blood pressure which is defined on blood pressure alone, low blood pressure is defined by signs and symptoms such as light-headedness, dizzyness and fainting.
anything below 100/50 in an adult.

Lot of answers here, most of them good. You asked about dangerous. Anything that causes you to have symptoms of dizziness, as stated above. What is truly and absolutely dangerous? At systolic pressure of about 70, the organs begin to get starved for blood. Kidneys go first among the major organs. So systolic of 70 is the absolute bottom. You need to be in an intensive care unit for that. Anything above that is governed by symptoms. Someone with a usual BP of 160/80 who is dizzy at 120/60 should see a doctor, for example. Hope that helps.
Below 100/50 would be considered to be low, however you often feel dizzy if your pressure is too low which is a sure sign that something is not quite right. Speak to your GP if you are concerned.
