does medicare cover diabetic test strips?

Question:

Answers:
YES MY MOTHER HAS DIABETES AND HER MEDICARE PAYED FOR ALL HER MEDICATIONS AND THE LITTLE MACHINE TO CHECK HER BLOOD AND THE STRIPS TOO.

Other Answers:
It depends on how often you test as to how many they will pay for, and it also depends on whether or not you use insulin. if you are insulin dependant (meaning that you require insulin injections) they will cover your strips, lancets for your machine and syringes, but they still will only pay for a certain amount in a 30 or 90 day period. you need to have your MD include specific instructions as to how many times a day that you test your blood when they write the prescription for your strips and lancets. also, you MD will need to fill out a CMN (certificate of medical necessity).at our pharmacy, we fill them out and then fax it to your MD.all they have to do is sign it and fax it back to us, no big deal.

I think your Medicare should cover most of the cost of your testing supplies and your medications for diabetes, depending on your plan. However, if your insurance doesn't cover these costs for you and you need assistance, consult with your doctor. There are numerous resources available to assist in the costs of medication and medical equipment.
Good luck and best wishes.
