Should the US adopt a free health care plan like many other countries and levee higher taxes to offset the?

Question:
Cost?

Answers:
No, no, no, no, no! And it's not just about cost, although such a system would be even more expensive and inefficient than the current mess. It's about freedom.

In the 70s, I visited a friend in Canada. They had national health, but when his father (who was himself a doctor) had a heart attack, he went to a private doctor because the National Health doctors were so busy and so second-rate.

Also, levying taxes to pay for anything is the least efficient way to get it done. You add the expense of the IRS to collect, auditors on both sides to keep the IRS going, and a huge layer of beaurocrats to administer the whole program. Then you get the lowest grade of service, because the paperwork and restrictions hinder them. If you then make a law that doctors and other health care professionals may not set up a private practice, you effectively have slavery of those professionals unless they are willing to risk jail to become "black market" doctors.

No, it would be a nightmare even worse than the current system, where I was charged nearly $5,000 for a 2.5 hour stay in a hospital emergency room that did nothing more than take a few tests!

Other Answers:
yes, i think we should be a welfare state like denmark

Just like welfare right now,if health care was to happen it would be abused, this country already is in trouble with individuals taking advantage of the system's loopholes, the citizens of this country want all the freedom coming to them and no interference from the goverment but at the same time they want the goverment to take care of them, there is already to much pressure on a working man to make ends meet
