Why do people write poems?

Question:
Why do people write poems? And why do they read them aloud in silly voices and expect to be told how wonderful they are? Surely if they have something to say they can say it clearly and distinctly, and if they have nothing to say they can SHUT THE FUKC UP.

Answers:
some people write poems to express there selves.. thats the only way some people now how to express there feelings.

If a poem is writen corectly it will flow into a beautiful
thing , it can take you places in your mind and in your heart, SO BETH WHERE IS YOUR HEART , UP YOUR A$$ OR WHAT ?

Bitter arn't we? Unlike you some people have a hard time expressing their selves so they express it in poetry or writing or drawings or painting etc. If you don't want to hear it then don't go to poetry readings and tell others hey I don't like poetry.

I write my poems and thoughts down to make myself feel better, but I can't read them out especially not to people. I know I am good at it I have been told so on many occasions but I let people read them and determine tat for them self

well, here's the deal. you need to calm down and stop getting so worked up over nothing. obviously you're awful with words. so you couldn't write poetry anyway. see, a poet is someone who feels emotion other then "shur the F up" and writes it out.and as for reading it, some do, some don't. i don't share my poetry with anyone unless they ask. i'm not big on showing it off. i like to keep my deep-seated emotions to myself.

funny that you spelled **** as fukc so your word would come through.
well, I'll tell you specifically why i write poetry, though not with silly readings;
i write to alleviate some stress and depressions.
that's the only reason why.
my emotions. its my own little therapy.

I write poetry. I've even had a couple published. I don't read them aloud in a silly voice, but I have had people tell me they were good. While I'm equally capable of writing effectively in regular methods, I find that the meter and rhyme of prose feeds a part of my creativity that writing an email, letter or story do not.
