I've been on the patch for 3 years and I haven't gained any weight. But, it is a birth control method so in some people, it may cause a little weight gain. It's pretty expensive if your insurance plan doesn't cover it. I have to pay $48 a month for it. And as far as the patch causing blood clots..ALL BIRTH CONTROL can cause blood clots. Just read the side effects and know what to do to help prevent them. Also, if you weigh over 198 lbs the patch may not be a good idea. It may not be as effective in women that weigh more than that. My wife is on the patch. She hasent gained any weight at all, infact she may have lost some.
Some things to worry about is that in can cause blood clots that may lead to stroke or heart attack in some people. It can cause rashes and irritation in the area of the patch.
It is a lot easier to remeber than a pill though. Im not sure the price.

do not use the patch. it has high levels of hormones, which can cause blood clots, and other issues. if you want a good form of contraceptive, i would use "seasonale", it is a pill which you only get four periods year. it is wonderful. it did not make me gain weight, and the price usually differs with differnt medical insurance plans
