does anyone know of ANY EFFECTIVE TREATMENT for MERSA boils? My entire family has been suffering from this!?

Question:
home remedies, homopathic,etc

Answers:
MRSA is a very tough bacteria to kill, and people can carry it up to several months after treatment. The best antibiotic to treat MRSA with is Vancomycin.
I assume your family has seen an infectious disease MD, if not start there. Careful handwashing is the most effective tool in preventing MRSA infections, and you should warn any visitors you have in your home that you have this infection present so they may take precautions. If any of the family is children precautions should be taken for contact especially in GYM class. We have had a outbreak of MRSA skin infection here in locker rooms. At home: Keep your hands clean by washing thoroughly with soap and water or using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
Keep cuts and scrapes clean and covered with a bandage until healed.
Avoid contact with other people’s wounds or bandages.
Avoid sharing personal items such as towels or razors. Wash clothing in hot water with hot water rinse and dry in hot dryer, no air drying.

Other Answers:
Tea tree oil. This essential oil, which is extracted from the leaves of the Australian tea tree (Melaleuca alternifolia), has been used for centuries as an antiseptic, antibiotic and antifungal agent. For best results, apply the oil to a boil several times a day. Most natural food stores and pharmacies carry tea-tree oil products. The oil can cause allergic reactions in some people, so be sure to stop using it if you have any problems.

Homeopathic remedies. Homeopathy is a method of healing based on the principle that "like cures like." It uses minute, highly diluted amounts of various substances to stimulate the body to heal itself. Homeopathic remedies for boils include belladonna, hepar sulphuris and silica. You can find them in many natural food stores.
Herbs.

Herbal teas such as dandelion and red clover are believed to help bacterial infections. Ointments containing marshmallow or slippery elm may relieve inflammation. Because herbs can interfere with other medications, be sure to talk to your doctor before taking any herb internally.

There are 2 types of MRSA (methacillin resistant staph aureus): community based and hospital based. Community acquired MRSA usually presents as boils on the skin. It is spread through skin contact, such as sports (wrestling is a big one). Treatment consists of draining the boils, followed by an antibiotic called Bactrim, taken twice a day for 10-14 days. The doctor will send a swab for culture to ensure that the bacteria is sensitive to the antibiotic chosen.

Hospital based MRSA has a tougher resistance pattern, and responds only to a few antibiotics. Vancomycin IV is the medication chosen first to treat hospital MRSA.

I hope your family is getting medical treatment for this. The antibiotics needed often have to be given IV (through the veins). If this continues, someone could end up with a life-threatening blood infection which could be VERY hard to get rid of if it is caused by MRSA. Seek medical help ASAP.
