because people with eating disorders are freaks!
I don't know that most people feel negatively. I don't, but perhaps they don't understand it.
Because they see eating disorders as a personal choice & not an illness, they feel that all the person has to do is eat which isn't difficult to them so people with eating disorders just need to snap out of it.
I don't believe anyone feels hatred towards people with eating disorders.
People will treat someone who is obese very unkindly and disregard the fact that maybe there is a medical reason for their weight gain instead choosing to believe the person is just lazy and extremely greedy.
As for eating disorders on the other end of the spectrum its hard to believe that people don't eat or make themselves sick after eating if people understood why people did this then there would be more acceptance of these people and it would be easier for them to seek help.
PEOPLE JUST DONT UNDERSTAND SOMETIMES, ITS NOT HATRED IM SURE, PERHAPS ITS MORE CONCERN FOR THE PERSONS WELFARE, EATING DISORDERS CAN KILL PEOPLE .
Because it is a disease of gluttony. It is feeling sorry for someone who has too much. Its an incredible country that has a disease for people who have too much.
Well I guess people get fed up with what the person with disorder sees, because the person without the disorder absolutely can see that they aren't fat, and it bothers then that the person with the disorder just doesn't see that.
Because a lot of people do view it as it being the peoples own fault. It is viewed as a lack of self control if you over eat, and as you being vain and crazy if you binge and purge. People don't have sympathy for things they generally can't relate to.
Because it's so much easier to try and fix someone else's problem than it is to fix their own. Because they see someone with a problem and feel superior even though they may have tons of other issues themselves. http://letmebealight.blogspot.com
It's called being jealous. your thin they aren't
So on there behalf.EAT SOMETHING DAMN IT !!
People usually feel negatively to something they don't understand. The people who have eating disorders usually have unresolved problems that set off eating disorders. These unresolved problems are usually masked or hidden so other people cannot understand why the person has the eating disorder.
I watched a programme recently about a woman who was 42 stones and had plastic surgery to remove much of the surplus fat that was left after she had lost some of her weight. What that woman went through was horendous - she suffered much pain and discomfort after each operation and I was upset watching the programme to see her go through the pain and suffering (and so was my husband - who is a hardened ex-para to the point he had tears in his eyes)! The woman mentioned had psychological problems which were partly the reason she ate so much and ended up so overweight. Why people feel they need to contribute nasty comments to people who are overweight I cannot understand. Then there is the opposite end of the scale and people who become afraid to eat. If only people who are negative towards such people could feel what it was like for a day or two in these people's shoes they would be more thoughtful and I believe it would make them maturer individuals.
