I'd rather hang around a prep. I was a bit of a prep, they are more socially acceptable and have a better chance to succeed. Goth people are so concerned about being anti-prep that they wind up looking stupid and get made fun of all the time. They reap what they sew, they want to be so different, then be prepared to be treated different.

I'd rather be friends with a goth,(I pretty much am one) and people always say that me and my friends worship the devil and someone actually called me a witch. they treat us bad too, we don't all attempt to commit suicide or worship the devil(only 7% do) so yeah, I hate preps cause they're b itchy but some are nice
If i tried being friends witha prep.. they'd jsut look at me and wonder why i even tried.. so a goth i'd choose. but then i probably wouldn't fit in there either.. so i'd have to go back to my orriginal friends.. or jsut stay lonely.

Well, I choose my friends because of deeper qualities rather than just shallow labels and stereotypes. So, at the end, it could be either goth or prep or whatever else come to your mind.

No offense but I hate preps 'cause they are always bit*chy to me, and one preppy girl at my school named Logan calls me emo and I hate it! why do preps have 2 be mean 2 every1? I don't like to label people, and I don't like to hang out with certain "types" of people. I'd pick the one who treats me the best, and is the most fun to hang out with.
Well I think I would base that on the individual whether goth or prep, I would probably lean more to the prep, but not quite sure cause if you are one of those real PREPS that think your (ya know) don't stink I could not stand you for a moment though a goth may be into more deadly ways and I don't like morbid ideas and such. So I prefer people who are themselves and don't show off to impress and speak kindly and always try to help people. Thank God I am not in school any longer. And there was no Goth at my schools when I was in school.

first off it's not about what you are sterotyped as it's about your personality and thing you like to do that should be what is looked at when you are trying to find someone to hangout with.Now if people are "hatin" on you then you should just take it as a compliment.
either one are special people. goths are missjudged and it is really very sad. in school preps break down underprivliged and missjudged people. you will see that the different people are some of the best friends you could ever have. and needless to say most would rather have a goth for a friend because you really wouldn't have to worry about them taking your man or your woman they are better friends than that. you can't really say the same about a prep.

When I went to school (years ago) my friend and I were put in the catagory of burn out preps. Translation: most of the time we dressed as preps some times like 50's kids (jeans,bandanas torn shirts or nice shirts- t- shirts)some times a little goth. Our class mates never knew what to expect. And because of that we had friends on every side of the fence. My advice stop catagorizing and get to know every body u can. Life to short to care how people dress.
Also we were both drinkers and tokers,she still is and I now own a couple of properties and run my own business and my husbands business.
Today's goth tomorrows Martha Stewart or president or family doctor? Todays prep tomorrows drug addict or bank robber or Charles Manson. You just never know people are about more than their clothes or make up. And don't put down the local **** or good girl either. They may be more worthy of your friendship than you realize.

Sorry, but this is kind of a superficial question.
It's very.highschool.
It doesn't matter. It's about personality. In highschool, all of my friends were in different cliques.
I had no specific group of people that I hung out with. I was friends with goths, jocks, emo kids, band geeks, preps, stoners, skaters, drama geeks, metal heads, EVERYONE!
It all comes down to personality.
And everyone catches crap, honey. That's life. You can be too fat, or too skinny, or too anything. Someone will always find something to mess with you about. But if you have a good personality, who you choose to hang out with or what you choose to dress like should not even come into consideration.
Remember:
Don't let one thing define who you are. If you your are the preppiest prep there is, and someone hates, but you have a great personality, you can, in good conscience say, "Go f*** yourself, cause I'm awesome, and I know that."
And just relax and do what you want! Highschool is only 700 days out of your life. The people you meet there don't matter. Trust me.
