Smokers, Do you ever think about other people's feelings before you light up??

And for you smokers with kids, do you think about their feelings about it and their health? Do you know just the smell on your clothes can hurt them.
And for you smokers who live in CA. since Jan. 2005 it is now illegal to smoke in a car ( windows up or down) with a child under the age of 18. You must completely get out of the car and shut the door to smoke. The fine is 500 each time you are cought and after the 3 time your kids can be taken away from you. The state of Ca is conceders smoking child abuse. I hear that they are trying to make smoking around kids at all ( even if you smoke out side) a child abuse charge in Ca. I hope it passes!

Wow.I didn't know about the kids in the car thing, and I live in CA and smoke.
I rarely smoke in my own car if there's a non smoker in there, and I never do with kids.
As far as anywhere else, unless I am outside, I always ask 1st.I never just assume I can smoke anywhere.

Take the $5.00 a pack tax off of cigarettes and I will have more consideration. I figure everyone is benefiting from my habit except for me, so I shouldn't be restricted in any way from doing it.

calm down. its a bad habit i know but a habit none the less.we try to limit smoking around others but sometimes the cravings drive us crazy

Do you realize that while people like you make huge fusses over things like smoking, there are millions and millions of people starving to death every year?
I smoked for 12 years straight and then I quit cold turkey, without any stupid "truth" ads, and I find it offensive so many people fight such a rediculous cause.
When AIDs, murder, famine, slavery, child labor, animal cruelty and all the other problems are fixed, I'll worry about smoking.
Wow. The law is finally giving kids a chance to be listened to on this issue for once (aside from a few major jerk-like adults who will ignore the law) weather or not they want to be in a car smelling cigarette smoke. Cool.
Do you think about the feelings of smokers before you rant and rave? It's a two way street. We are already forced to go outside or sit in unventilated huts in most places. If you don't like the smoke, get up and leave. Protest the establishment which permits smoking. The smell from smoker's clothes doesn't hurt people, they have to breath in some form of the smoke from the ciggarette, and unless you cover yourself in smokes and light yourself on fire, your clothes have nothing to do with it.
no idont think people that smoke think about . the people that dont smoke that are around them . my mom a smoke but she had some medical stuff done so she not suppose to smoke . because we almost lost her . last time i wish she would understand we all want her to live stop smoking

-real child abuse
-hunger
-immigration

No, I don't smoke. My great friend does though and she does care about how others feel. She sneaks around like a criminal so she can enjoy a smoke. I think graciousness flows in both directions. have a little thought about the smoker's feelings too. After all, no one is perfect:)
First of all, That is why they have nonsmokers section. If you think it's child abuse to smoke around your kids, then why isnt the goverment to blame for polution from the plants being manufactured . We have rights too and you have breathed in far worse things than cigerette smoke. i guess it's just like the sob's who bi.ch about "under god" and sh.t cuz they dont beleive in God it shouldnt be a part of your lives? You must be living in a dream world. I have done research on this as my parents smoke in the car when I'm with them. That law never made it as the voters turned it down as it was an invasion of privacy and interfered with the upbringing of children. What a person does in their own car is their own business. The police don't bother to stop any adult who smokes in their car with an underage child. Also, the child abuse laws have no section on smoking like you describe. Only law is the one where you can't sell tobacco to minors (2005=06 edition, which is revised every 6 months, same goes for child abuse meanings. Back up your statements with documented proof and I'll release what research I've come up with. As they say, if you can't stand the smoke, get out of the kitchen.

I do everything I can to be considerate of anyone, smoker or non-smoker when I light my cigarette. But, I am also aware that some non smokers will go to any lengths to belittle, berate and humiliate a smoker every chance they get. How about putting your efforts towards true child abuse and neglect and maybe feeding some of the poor in your neighborhood rather than insisting a smoker abuses their children. If that's the case, how about obesity? Have you ever considered that many smokers are not obese? And obesity seems to cost our healthcare systems as well as affect the lives of children to the same extent as everyday pollution! And you really don't want to get on the subject of how bad we smell.there are a lot of non-smokers who sure can't use the smell of smoke as their excuse. What's yours? Sometimes, ignorance smells as rotten as eggs left out in the Californian sun.
Its not a criminal offense to smoke cigarettes.its not even a criminal offence to smoke in non-smoking areas! Do you know anyone who was ever criminally charged with "SMOKING"?
Cigarettes contain carcinogens, cancer causing agents.why is it that the government can ban all other carcinogens, but not cigarettes?
Because the government makes billions of $$$ from the sale of cigarettes & tobacco products.
I am a smoker & I would welcome a complete ban on cigarettes & tobacco products, because I am hopelessly addicted & have no will-power.
