My brother is alcoholic. Can I help him even he doesn't want to ? Can I send him somewhere ?

Question:

Answers:
Be careful with this one. Your concern for your brothers well being is great but many people over step their bounds in these situations. Try talking to him and telling him how much he means to you. Let him know how he has changed since he has allowed alcohol to take ove his life. Do it in a kind and loving manner. One of the worst things that you can do is back him into a corner, he'll feel threatened and most likely move himself further away from the people that care about him. Its not that he doesn't know that he has a problem with drinking, because I'm sure he feel some shame for the way things are going in his life. Try to bring him back with love and understanding before you do anything drastic. I hope that all goes well for you and yours. J

you can't send him to rehab against his will. sorry and good luck

there is antabuse therapy with disulfiram

Sadly, there is nothing you can do for your brother unless he voluntarily seeks help. If you try to send him somewhere that he does not wish to be, he will simply sign himself out and return home.
The very best thing you can do for now is to be there for him and hope that he realizes that he has a problem and that he should seek help.

I hope that you get your wish - good luck!

u can get a court order. What im talking about is u can get a paper from the court saying that he cant visit you or your family unless he gets help. i dont know if it will help, but it should hi you two are close.

I am so sorry for you. You sound like a caring person. Alcoholics make life miserable for the people who love them. But there is no way to help them if they don't want to be help. Interventions may work, give a try.

sit down with him & have a heart to heart. tell him what he is doing to his body and how you dont want to see him ruin himself like this because you love and care for him soooo much. tell him that al you want is for him to get better and to have your old brother back. ask him to please attened an AA meating .
