The sensation of surprise protects against crawling animals and insects, such as spiders, mosquitos, scorpions or beetles.

just beacause.
i think it might becuz of nerves.

Well because i think that maybe they are shy of a boy or they just are. i dont know.

i reali dnt no but if thers a cure tell me im so bad wen it comes to being ticklish!! haha

This falls under the study to social contact (grooming) for species that have, particularly mammals that have highly social groupings.
Being ticklish would certainly draw more attention to that individual from
other members of the group. Creates positive interactions that strength bonds. It would be interesting if one could find a structural (receptor) or
physiological (brain wave pattern) that would be strongly correlated with the 'ticklish state' and see if these kinds of things are found only in highly social mammalian species.

Because it's fun to tickle your significant other, or be tickled in return.
Although, I'm not sure how our dog felt when we would tickle the hairs between her toes while she was sleeping, and her feet would twitch.

Also when we stroke our nerve endings a certain way it brings us pleasure.

i dont know..im ticklish everyware though

Because tickling involves the sensitivity of our skin, we do start out with natural differences in ticklishness, much as we have differences in our hearing or eyesight.

But tickling is different because it's social; it's not like sight or smell

Although tickling, like reflexes, involves neurological mechanisms, it is far more than an involuntary response. You can give yourself a knee-jerk reflex, but you can't tickle yourself

Provine theorizes that the differences lie largely in who is doing the tickling. You may be highly sensitive to being held down and tickled by an older brother, for instance, because it's somewhat aversive. But a lover's tickling may not annoy you at all.

Acquiring sensitivity to ticklish stimuli might have been highly useful in our evolutionary past. It would have warned us if a poisonous scorpion was crawling along our neck. And the parts of our bodies that are highly vulnerable to injury, like our feet, chest and armpits, are among the most ticklish.

people are ticklish because we all have nerves so it's the fact that our blood is moved through it. wen tickling the nerve, the blod seems to mve faster then ts per usual state, you know what i mean

people are ticklish just becuase its human nature

Because most of us are born that way

i think its because their really sinstive

i agree

there are some places on your body that react to soft movements.

I dunno.BUT BOY AM I TICKILISH!!HAHA!!

i think being ticklish is just a mindset. i think that we have the ability to halt the sensation.

There nerves r more sensitive giving a curious sensation tht counteracts their hormones which gives them a sensation of happiness or love

Well, you see, it's a built in defense mechanism.
When you are being attacked, if you reach up and tickle your attacker just right, they will pee their pants, thus giving you a way to get free as they are distracted by the hot wet sensation that forced it's way out of their body.

studys show that people r ticklish because the sensation of the unknown, if someone else rubs your skin your, your brain cant predict what will happen next causing u to laugh, if you tickle your self slowly you may not laugh because your brain nows what will happen next cause u r sending messages to it

because their nerves feel funny in some areas with people touch it

Because it helps you know when you have a bug creeping on you or something like that.I wish their was a cure because i HATE HATE HATE being tickled!

It's in a sensitive area and i guess its hits that sensitive nerves that makes you get a tingle all over.

it really depends, since every person is diffrent, the sensativity of the skin and the nerve are just one big reason why people are ticklish.

i realy dont know

i dont know..

Nerves. It's weird though, I'm ticklish everywhere. On my back, hands, stomach, feet, and neck.

cause how can u not be its just somethin thats everybody is ive never met any1 that wasnt in some place lol

people are ticklish beause,Being ticklish is a complicated trait rooted in our evolutionary past. Two searches, "physiology + ticklish" and "why are we ticklish," turned up a number of articles that helped us understand this touchy, feely human feature.
Scientists suggest that being ticklish is our defense against creepy crawlies like spiders and bugs, a physiological response alerting us to a specific type of threat. That is why vulnerable parts of our bodies -- feet, chest, and armpits, are among the most ticklish.

While there is no question that being ticklish is neurological, scientists contend that it is also learned. One theory sees ticklishness as a personality-based response to perceived attack. Antsy folks may laugh uncontrollably at the lightest touch, or even without being touched at all, while folks made of sterner stuff won't budge during more aggressive tickle attacks.

If you close your eyes and try to remain calm while you are tickled, you can decrease panic, reduce giggles, and dull sensation. And, no matter how hard you try, it is nearly impossible to tickle yourself.

Tickling satisfies our human need to touch. Robert R. Provine, a professor of neuroscience and author of Quest for Laughter, sees the tickle as a form of communication between friends, family, and lovers, playing a key role in the evolution of social and sexual behavior. He points to chimps tickling each other during play, parents tickling little kids, and lovers tickling each other affectionately
