i have social anxiety disorder---mani. as sweating buckets in public or in an uncomfortable situation?
Question:
Answers:
Social Anxiety is actually a very common disorder which may occur when speaking in public or by just being in a public, in social anxiety unlike generalised anxiety disorder, anxiolytics (tranqulizers) do not help. What might be helpful in your case maybe a small dose of a blood pressure medicine (b-blocker) which does help with social Anxiety. Please see your physician for help with this treatable condition.

you know, There is a product called Certain Dry, which is verrrrry helpful. Of course that's only for under arms. It gets rid of sweating once you use it for couple of days.
i have kinda the same problem what u should do is dress up and just fell good about ur self and that sure makes u less nervous and also practice what u should say etc.
:( I also have this very thing. It is very hard for me to even get ready to go some where because while I am trying to dry my hair and put on some make up I sweat like crazy. Even my scalp sweats and it makes it hard to do anything with my hair.
Have you tried any sort of medication? Like maybe a mild tranquilizer or an antidepressant to ease your anxiety? They work for some people. However, one of the side effects of the medication can be to make you sweat. Sort of a catch 22, huh? Go see your doctor as I know that there are some medications that have a side effect of no sweating and maybe a small dosage of one of those could help you out.
Best of luck to you!!

I think finding a cure for the underlying anxiety is more important than stopping the sweating. I would go talk to someone who specializes in anxiety disorders so you can live the rest of your life free from the problem.
If you are just embarrased by sweating under the arms or on the hands, then I recommend the anti-perspirant Certain Dri. It is available in drug stores and works so much better than any anti-perspirent you would have ever tried before.
If you are sweating in other ways from just being around people, then I would really recommend taking a course like Dale Carnegie. They basically teach you to interact with others and to become comfortable in front of people. It is a course that meets once a week for several months, and it is a bit tough because they start having you interact with people right from the start, but it is a great help for reducing your anxiety around people.
cure is getting on meds
