Xtians and other biased people, tend to think that those who are goth are sinners, as they have started to worship the 'devil' or 'satan'. That they have become dark, distorted, and such. I've heard it all from preachers, and other xtians about goth, and it's completly foolish for them to think such things.
Because those who like being 'goth' are in appearance 'different' from the social norm, they will not be as accepted as those who are not goth and follow the social norm.
This holds true for anyone, from goth, to gay/lesbian, vampire, pagan, non christian, and even asian/spanish, ect. It is all about differences, and in my opinion, it is being spurred on by xtian groups that just don't approve.

i believe it is just labling that make people think goth is bad, like "all goths worship the devil," or "goths are vampires" crazy nonsense, i was gothic when i was younger, and i didnt worship the devil and i am not no vampire.. it just steroetyping.. i think
I think one of the others already hit on this. Goths fail to "conform" to the popular notions of how people should be, and therefore are labelled as deviant, evil, bad, etc. This is typical human stupidity. Most of the people doing the condemning don't know any goths, but that doesn't stop them. In my experience, the goth kids are often the brightest, most insightful, and interesting kids in any community. Too bad people won't give them a chance.
Think that its only Catholics who think that. I say this because goth is like worshiping the devil and doing bad things.
'Cause it's usually related to satan or some dark forces, but I think it's really cool. I have respect for people who dare to look different.
I think they wear goth style because they are depressed due to some thing they expierenced. Also that is why they cut thereselfs as the self inflicted pain temporarly relieves the pain that they feel inside. A lot of the people are not truly Goth and are refered to as Posers
People use to think that becouse we dress black clothes, black nails, black makeup, black almost every thing. We like Terror/Horror movies and books, creepy things, we like things about over natural and sometimes we like to listen stories about real people deaths specialy murders and tragic deaths. I said "we" becouse I cosidered my self has a goth girl. I had dress black clothes, listen to rock music, watch Terror/Horror movies, like over natural and all the things I mention since I was 11. Now I'm 14 is not a long time, but I had learn a lot of things about goth people and also learn that most of them are not bad even when their considered their self like bad. I know this becouse I use to said "I'm Bad and you love it" but I'm not really bad. I got very good grades at school and I want to study Forencic Medicine. Most of goths do crazy things to have fun (I'm NOT talking about kill chinkens or eat maggots)I'm talking about things like get into a shooping cart and a friend pull you over the street. People start to look at you like "what's in theirs minds?!" we just laugh of their faces. Maybe you don't like to practice this stuff, but if you try it some day you'll really have fun.
