Why do I have a hard-on when I wake up every morning?

Question:
Is there any scientific answer to this one? Do every guy have this issue?

Answers:
Okay now for the real answer. Yes, if you get an erection in the morning it most likely means that it's working properly, but that doesn't answer WHY you get an erection (aka "morning wood").

Morning wood is the body's way of keeping you from peeing in your sleep. Seriously! Have you ever noticed that it is difficult to urinate (pee) when you have an erection? Semen comes from the testes and urine comes from the bladder, but as you know they both funnel down into the urethra and leave the body out the same hole at the end of the penis. Well, when you have an erection your body automatically shuts off the exit from the bladder and opens the way for semen. It's a good thing that this happens cause you wouldn't want to accidently urinate (pee) when you are having sex.

Anyways even though you're sleeping, your body knows that you have to pee, but won't just let it leave while you're sleeping. So, it pumps some extra blood down to the penis, creating an erection, thus blocking off the valve that lets the urine out.

There you have it!! Kick assss.

Most guys wake up with an erection. At the very least, a man will get an erection several times during the night.

This is one way they check to see if impotence is physically related or not. If no erection occurs overnight, it's physically related.

It's a natural process that happens to prevent you from falling out of bed.

It's a common issue. Reffered to as morning wood. Perfectly normal.
