If cancer treatments don't work, what will happen? Will it be fatal?

Question:

Answers:
Depends on the cancer - some are "quick" and some are slow.

even within a type of cancer, there can be a ton of variation.

Mine is very slow (for me) which is a bit unusual [but i am glad for it]

Each type of cancer has "staging" that lets the docs know where you are at in the progression of the disease. You should find out what "stage" you are and then see what the prognosis is.

Fatal is a big word; hard to deal with when you got cancer - if you want more information, you can go to the American cancer society website and look at the "5 year survival" rates - that is a percentage of ALL people that have a specific type of cancer and how long they last after diagnosis. It can be a pretty brutal "discovery" and remember you could be on the plus side of that percentage.

Most important thing for all people with cancer is to KNOW as much as you can about YOUR cancer, treatments, and prognosis.

Just because a cancer is not treatable, you won't necessarily die from it. I have a form of cancer that does not respond to chemotherapy or radiation and must be cut out over and over again as it regrows over time. A person can live with untreated cancer for a long period of time and not even know it. If you do know it's there, then there are things you can do to improve your health even if you can't get rid of the tumor. I've been living with incurable cancer for close to five years now according to my doctor's estimations.

If this is a situation that you or a loved one is dealing with, feel free to send me a message and we can talk more. Meanwhile, try to stay as hopeful as possible.
