Some people will report no side effects, others have lots. If you are concerned about the weight gain, I'd talk to your prescribing physician and ask if there are alternative medications that he/she feels would be help and may not cause you to gain weight. Many of the newer anti-depressants (e.g., Effexor) have less side effects.

No, I had the opposite experience. I take Effexor and completely lost the desire to eat anything at all. I was afraid I was having a relapse of my previous anorexia and found out that's just a side effect of the drug.
Weight gain was an issue for me while I was taking Paxil.
They can, but it depends on the person. If you are on an anti-depressent which does, consult your doctor to find what med is right for you and what side effects you could live with more easily.
I've been taking Effexor for 2 years and have not experienced any weight gain. In fact, because I feel better I have been doing things that I stopped doing for years until I started on the medication.
so do make u gain wieght so make u lose wieght . talk to the shrink or doc. i know i gain wight on certain antidepressains.

I don't know if really worrying about fat while being depressed is helping it much. Just be concerned about being healthy and staying healthy. :D

I am on Effexor too, I don't feel I gain weight. You should really talk to your doctor about your concern, since this affect your self image and affect your emotion.
Do some exercise: such as walking up and down stairs at home, or go to gym or play sports with friends.
No, they can give you a bigger appetite. Its what you then choose to eat that makes you fat.
I was on prozac for a while and they made me not hungry. But i think it very much depends on the drug and the individual. When you get hungry try snacking on healthy stuff..easier said then done i know
