Running. Crunches will tighten your stomach muscles, but won't get rid of fat. The only way to get rid of large amounts of fat is to use large muscles, like your thighs and buttocks. If you can't run, for weather or health reasons, try an elliptical. (Mix between a stairclimber and a treadmill) They are a lot easier on the knees.

You need to do a lot of sit-ups everyday, consistently. Be disciplined about it and jog daily if possible. If you take alcohol or sugarry foods, you will need to cut back on them.
I have a friend that lost her stomach fat by running/jogging, nothing else worked for her. Ive found crunches to be effective. Diets dont seem to work, because once you've lost the weight you'll most likely go off the diet and regain the unwanted fat. Aerobic excercise is the answer.

a sensible diet and aerobic exercise will help you lose fat, no matter where it is. abdominal exercises will tone muscles, but will not make you lose fat in one specific area. it is all about a change in lifestyle, you have to exercise at least thirty minutes a day and eat healthy foods
Doing crunches or situps won't really burn the fat you want off your belly. I have found the best way to speed up my metabolism and burn fat is by spreading meals out and eating more frequently (smaller portions 5-6 times a day). Your body is a very intelligent machine. If you have a habit of eating two or three large meals in a day your body knows it has to store left over food for energy bacause you won't be eating again for many hours. If you aren't getting the right amount of excersise the stored food turns to fat. When you eat frequantly your body doesn;t need to store excess and will burn it off (your metabolism speeds up). This has worked for me for many years to keep my waist slim and fit.
YOU CAN NOT SPOT REDUCE, MEANING YOU CAN'T BE LIKE "O I WANT TO LOSE FAT FROM MY BUTT OR STOMACH" YOU HAVE TO USE DIET AND EXERCISE TO LOSE FAT. NO MATTER WHAT YOU HEAR FROM INFOMERCIALS, THERE IS NO WAY TO SPOT REDUCE ON SPECIFIC AREAS OF YOU'RE BODY, IF YOU WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT, YOU HAVE TO LOSE IT EVERYWHERE.
start walking , then faster waling, then with 3 to 5 lb. weights in each hand and walk faster. Always using 1-2 week sessions as your body gets used to walking you will know when you are ready for a step -up so to speak. Then / or you can start to do yoga, use Richard Hittleman's book I am a trainer and have found this book to be the best as Richard walks you thru it a little bit at a time. If you are a heart patient or have ill health ask your dr. if this is ok to do. Some of the postures
could harm an ill person. So if you are well and got this way from being a couch potato get going and have fun !
