i have one and the dr told me that when i get surgery to have alot of fiber but if its swollen it cold be cuz of the surgery and thats only normal and he needs to relax for a few days so his body can take time to heal tell him to relax and eat alot of fiber and he should be ok but if you have any concerns you should call the dr

Nope but i did have my appendix's out on the 18th of December.
my husband goes for his operation on his hernia on april 12, if he doesn't rest he will risk tearing it again
If your husband takes it easy, and relaxes there is little chance of a re-occurrence, less then 5%. He should be able to walk upstairs in a few days, as well as drive. He must remember that this is when everything is healing so he has to try to take it easy. Just keep an eye out for infection, and depending on his job he could expect a recovery of 1-6 weeks. Hope this helps.
