Tachycardia, abnormal Cardiolite stress test, need info!?
Question:
Results of my cardiolite stress test were abnormal. I was out of breath and the Dr. stopped the test 3 1/2 minutes in although I could have walked more. Had rest and stress pictures done.
As soon as the Dr. looked at all the pictures a few days later, they called me in immediately (2 weeks before my follow-up) to schedule a heart cath. He was shocked but there is a circulation problem- that it seems there is a blockage or something.
I am 33. I am significantly overweight, but normal cholesterol, normal blood pressure. If my cholesterol is normal then why might I have a blockage? Is it just fatty around my heart?
Family history includes mother having heart attack before age 60 (diabetes, high blood pressure & cholesterol) and aneurysms.
Just wanting opinions since I am under a Dr.'s care.
Answers:
actually you can have a blockage and your cholestorol be very low. Some people have clotting factor issues with their blood and it causes blockages very easy. I would definately talk to you doctor and see if there are ways to help control this. 33 years old is too young to be having these kinds of issues.
Other Answers:
u have diabetes problem.
I do not know really
Tachycardia is , as you may know, rapid heart beat (above 80
bpm. If there is a blockage, your heart may be working overtime to get the right amount of blood flowing. With your family history, and your weight, the doctor is being precautions. I can't tell you about fat around the heart, but there may be a case of enlarged heart besides the blockage. Do what the Dr. says, take it easy.

cholesteol and fat do not necessarily flow around with your blood that would make it to thick and cause severe circulation and swelling problems and possible need for amputation of extremities furthest from the heart some people have this condition called pvd peripheral vascular disease the cholesterol and fat collects and deposits inside your arteries like a water hose that gets caked up around in the insides so the flow is not as good as it should be and parts of these plaques may break off and cause a stroke or an aneurysm that can burst causing stroke or death also think of the hose becoming completely clogged this would cause a heart attack from lack of blood supply to the heart many people in their thirties die from heart attacks because they know best and they are fine and healthy and interpret their own lab results if you do not trust your doctor find a good cardiologist you trust and take care of your heart have that heart cath and prolong your life if you live in southern california area Dr. Togioka is an excellent cardiologist in inglewood
It's important what kind of tachycardia you have and at what level it is.If it's supraventricular,no reason to get overstressed because it can be fixed easily by electro-physiological study(EPS),but if it's ventricular(like mine),the chance to get cured by EPS drops dramatically.Atenelol is what I've been using for 2 years and my body reacted to it very positively, but keep in mind that there are some alternatives to Atenelol(similar) also.I tried 3 different drugs before Atenelol, and they had almost zero effect on me,couldn't stop my tachycardia, but this changes fom person to person,so you have to find the drug that has the best effect on you.And there are also some side effects of Atenelol like slow heartbeat(mine is a constant 50 bpm),which causes rapid exhaustion,if you are a male sometimes sexual incompetance, dizzieness, weakne. in general.but it's a good drug overall I think.but consider EPS seriously, since it can cure you once and forever.good luck,I hope you get well soon!
